Why Fig Tree

Fig Tree Independent School has always done its best to provide a quality, holistic education that lets children be who they are. 

Fig Tree Independent School is an English medium, Christian school that encourages children to be themselves based on Christ's image of who they are. Having a small, family orientated classroom means the teachers are able to focus on what they love about teaching and that is focusing on guiding and nurturing the children. 

Having small classes means individual attention and being able to go beyond the curriculum. While Fig Tree follows the government CAPS curriculum, we are able to extend our learners and give them opportunities to learn life lessons and skills. This year we will be focusing on extending them in the following skills: Agriculture, Cooking, Building, Sewing, and Others. Private horse riding is also available. 

We believe that children learn best when their unique abilities are supported in the classroom. Fig Tree has completed its application to register with the Eastern Cape Education Department to ensure quality and transparent assurance. This gives you peace that what we do is not only inline with the South African CAPS curriculum, but also aimed at ensuring your child can leave in Grade 12 with a National Senior Certificate (Matric certificate) for them to study further at a tertiary institution (university). 

*Grade 8-12 also have the option to do two other curriculums such as the American GED or British International System depending on the online platform that you chose. 

We engender a strong Christian ethos within our school, however our school is open to all faiths and we demonstrate God’s grace and love for all of His children.

We believe that an education with experience is vital in critical thinking and doing more than sitting in the classroom is needed.
