High speed, buzzer-style competition

Team of 4 people compete at a time, with 1 substitute
Invitationals: TBD
Regionals: TBD
State: TBD
Nationals: TBD
There are two types of questions used: toss-up and bonus. Toss-up questions are answered individually and have a time limit of 5 seconds. If a team member gets the toss-up question correct, the entire team can work together on the bonus question. Questions are either multiple choice or short answer.
When a competitor answers a tossup before being recognized by the moderator, that is called a blurt, and the other team gains a penalty of 4 points, and is still allowed a chance to answer the question. When a competitor does not answer a tossup within 4 seconds of being recognized, that is called a stall, and the other team gains a penalty of 4 points.
Finally, buzzing in is allowed while the moderator is reading the question. This is called an interrupt, and if the given answer is correct, the game proceeds as normal, but if the given answer is incorrect, then the other team gains a penalty of 4 points, and is still allowed a chance to answer the question.
If you are highly competitive, have quick reflexes, and enjoy learning somewhat obscure facts regarding one or more scientific disciplines, Science Bowl would be perfect for you!! Everyone is welcome regardless of experience level, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Jared on Remind.
