Affordable Vermont Soccer!
FFSC is an entirely volunteer run organization with non-profit 501(c) status. This means all of money collected goes to uniforms athletes can keep, paint to line the fields, port-a-let rentals, equipment for each coach to use for the season, and additional fees for larger registrations to jamborees and soccer events.
FFSC is an all-inclusive organization. We value all players no matter their skill level. We believe in the power of play and want to foster a love of not only soccer but all sport. Our mission is to foster a sense of community, respect and competitive spirit in our local youth. We will challenge players to improve their skills/techniques through positive encouragement and regular training.
FFSC recognizes that meeting every athletes abilities is a challenge. Our volunteers often have limited experience with players that need more guidance or adaptive play. Essex Junction, Vermont has an amazing program,
TOPSoccer for athletes ages 4-21 to try soccer or continue developing their soccer skills.
Please visit https://www.vermontsoccer.org/topsoccer/ for more information.
If you already have a Gotsport account please use your existing login information. If you do not, please create a new account so that your player(s) can be registered for the current sessions. This same portal will also allow parents/guardians to register as a volunteer coach/assistant coach or other positions for each session. If anyone is interested in taking on an additional role in the organization please reach out to Seth McQuade directly at president@ffsoccerclubvt.org.
Nordic Indoor and VSL Farpost Soccer allow teams from throughout the area to compete with their clubs. Games are played at the EXPO in Essex, VT.
Players should register for the appropriate age division. Players are allowed to play up an age division, but cannot play in a lower age division.
Another thing to note is that in January(session 2) the age divisions will shift due to a new year starting. You may choose to play up sessions 1 to keep continuity through the three sessions. Please reach out if you have questions on the correct division. You are also allowed to register(and pay) for multiple divisions if you so choose. (Ex.U10 player may also play U12 with separate registration.)
Our recreation league plays by grade level to be in line with the other teams in the rec league. This means teams were grouped in a Pre-K, K, ½, ¾,& ⅚ based on their grade in 2025. As you signup you will see U* listed. U generally stands for Under the Age of and is used nationally to assign players to divisions.
Pre K & K- Will train once a week from about Labor Day to mid-October.
Grades 1/2 - Will train once a week and play a game on Saturday from about Labor Day to mid-October.
Grades 3/4 & 5/6+ - Will train twice a week from mid-August to the end of October. Games on Saturdays.
Players from Pre-K through 7th grade (U4–U14) are welcome. Participation is available to players that reside in Fairfax and Fletcher as well as surrounding towns that do not offer a soccer program. Players are broken into groups by grade levels or birth year. Practices are located at the Cambridge Recreation Center fields and Fletcher Elementary School and potentially BFA Fairfax.
Games for U8-U14 are usually located within Franklin and Lamoille Counties against other local recreational teams.
Soccer does not have to be expensive! Players should arrive to practice ready to play with a soccer ball, cleats, shin guards, and water. If your player forgets an item or your family would like to see if the FFSClub has extras, please do not hesitate to ask! And be on the look out for the FFSC Annual Cleat Swap to get cheap cleats or exchange yours for free!
Premiere Information -Additional Playing Opportunity for Ages 9-13
If your athlete will be playing Premier in addition to the Rec. League they will be playing based on their U* age. Below explains how your athlete will be placed in order to play. Players are allowed to play up and for multiple premiere teams but may never play down.
U8 Teams - Sept 1 2017 - Aug 31 2019 (Grades 1&2)
U10 Teams - Sept 1, 2015 - Aug 31 -2017 (Grades 3&4)
U12 Teams - Sept 1 2013 - Aug 31 2015 (Grades 5&6)
U14 Teams - Sept 1 2011- Aug 31 2013 (Grades 6&7&8)
Premier is an additional Sunday option for higher level game play through the Vermont Soccer League (VSL). It is a bigger commitment, from players and families. Rosters will be smaller so families will really need to be committed to the experience.
Additional payment is required for premiere team registration. Coaches are NOT handling money for the FFSC. If you must write a check please send it to: FFSC, PO Box 261, Fairfax, VT 05454
Premier team try outs will take place within the first 2 weeks of practice. If your player is not selected or the club cannot field a team due to lack of players or coaches, you will be refunded this payment.
Parents and Guardians, did you know you can have zero soccer experience and still be a coach or assistant coach?
Here is what coaching and assistant coaching actually look like when FFSC asks for adult support during a season:
Coach-
⚽Attend one 90 min or less meeting before the soccer season starts,
⚽Register with GotSport and complete the 3 virtual hours of player safety trainings,
⚽Attend as many practices and games for the team as possible,
⚽Learn the names of players,
⚽Keep a roster of players,
⚽Choose 3-5 activities to try with kids at each practice,
⚽Model skills as well as good sportsmanship,
⚽Choose a fair line up for player positions before a game,
⚽Store club soccer gear at home between practices/games,
⚽Email parents with changes in schedule/locations,
⚽Create a clear sub plan if a game/ practice is missed,
⚽Email FFS Club president if concerns arise.
Assistant coach-
⚽Register with GotSport and complete the 3 virtual hours of player safety trainings,
⚽Attend as many practices and games for the team as possible,
⚽Learn the names of players,
⚽Keep kids on track and encourage them to listen to the lead coach,
⚽U4-U8 players need you on the side lines as a professional shoe tie-r during games,
⚽U4-U8 players may need you to model or show them what to do at a “station” in order to practice a skill,
⚽Potentially cover a game or practice that the lead coach needs to miss by following the lead coach's sub plans.
Using enthusiasm, positive thinking, and YouTube, any one can decide to try coaching or assistant coaching! It is not much more of a commitment than attending the practices and games you are already at!
