Welcome to the Spellements Section of the Ferricord FAQ! On this page, we'll be focusing on all things Spellements related and you can use the Table of Contents below to quickly jump to a specific section.
Originally introduced to the game in the Fall 2019 Update, Spellements are a special type of reagent that allow you to upgrade your pre-existing spells, giving them more damage, extra utility, and even different features depending on the "Path" you choose.
In addition to this, Spellements are also how you "unlock" or learn certain spells including the newer Lore Spells like Ship of Fools and the Delay Cast Enchants Nightbringer and Daybreaker.
Each Spell that has Spellements has different Tiers that it can be upgraded to, with some Spellements offering "Paths" that give you different utilities or change the way the Spell works while others only get one Path that enhances the damage and utility with each Tier.
For some Spellements there are 5 total Tiers and others there are 3 Tiers with Tier 1 being the base spell that you learn, craft or unlock and Tier 3 or 5 being the maximum upgrade or potential the Spell can achieve.
Each of these Tiers costs a set amount of Spellements which can be found in the graphics to the right (below on Mobile). Please note these graphics do not show the Tier 2-5 Spell Cards and instead use the Tier 1 Base Spell as a placeholder.
Please be advised that for Trained Spells, Tier 5 requires 685 Spellements, but for Unlocked Spells Tier 5 requires 720 Spellements as you spend an extra 35 Unlocking the Spell. If you Craft or Learn the Unlockable Spell then Tier 5 will only require 685 Spellements.

Spellements come from different sources and amounts throughout the entire game including but not limited to from Bosses, Raids, Packs, Cantrip Chests, Beastmoon and more.
Because the ways of obtaining each different category of Spellement is different, I'm going to break them all down into each of their categories and outline the different ways to get each of them. To the right (below on Mobile) is a list of different sources of Spellements and in each category of Spellement, I'll be going in depth about specific sources.
Please be aware that not every source drops every category of Spellement or in the same amounts. Additionally, note that I have opted not to include Silver Chests and Spellemental Hoard Packs in any of the sub-sections below, as the rewards they give for the investment of time and Crowns you put into them is not worth it, however, they are both sources for some Spellements.
Known Sources of Spellements
Beastmoon Rewards
Boss Rematches
Cantrip Chests
Catacombs Bosses
Deluxe Spellemental Pack
Gold Skeleton Key Bosses
Malistaire Saga Spellement Pack
Pet Retriever Talents
Scroll of Fortune
Select World Bosses
Silver Chests*
Spellemental Lore Packs
Spellemental Hoard Packs*
The Voracious Void Raid
Arc 1 Spellements, also known as Trained Rank 1-6 Spellements can currently be obtained from a variety of sources with some of them being easier and more worthwhile than others. Of course, you can use a combination of some or all of these sources to max out your Arc 1 Spellements, but it will still take a lot of time, effort and investment to do so. As of now, Arc 1 Spellements can be obtained from the following sources:
Introduced as one of the primary ways for Max Level Wizards to get their Rank 1-6 Spellements, Boss Rematches are similar to other One-Shot Gauntlets like the Exalted Duels. Each time you defeat the Boss in their Rematch, they'll give you 8-11 Spellements as a reward with a small chance at hitting the jackpot of 30 Spellements, but here's the catch: These Bosses are horrible cheaters, and only drop a specific Rank of Spellement.
[Rematch] Lord Nightshade will only drop Rank 1 & 2 Spellements
[Rematch] Krokopatra will only drop Rank 3 Spellements
[Rematch] Meowiarty will only drop Rank 4 Spellements
[Rematch] Jade Oni and Friends will only drop Rank 5 Spellements
[Rematch] Malistare and Sylvia Drake will only drop Rank 6 Spellements
Additionally, there a couple things you will need to keep in mind if you intend to use Boss Rematches as one of your primary ways of getting Rank 1-6 Spellements:
Boss Rematches are a single use item so once you join the sigil and timer reaches 0, it locks and turns into a trophy. Best case scenario, you defeat the boss; worse case scenario, you die and need to return to the instance with Dungeon Recall. However, if you leave the instance and it closes, you lose that Gauntlet and its rewards forever so be sure you're prepared before entering!
Boss Rematches must be crafted in the Arena through Raquel and can be quite costly when making them in bulk. However, your completed Rematches turn into trophies that can be used to craft a cheaper "Recharge" version of the Rematch that acts the exact same.
Boss Rematches will scale to the Rank matching the level of the Wizard who crafted and owns the Rematch. Any participants outside of this level range will not receive any Spellements.
Tier 1 is for Wizards Level 1-50
Tier 2 is for Wizards Level 51-99
Tier 3 is for Wizards Level 100-160
Similar to Boss Rematches, Cantrip Chests are one of the primary ways for Max Level Wizards to obtain their Rank 1-6 Spellements, however, anyone Level 20+ can use Cantrip Chests.
Opening a Cantrip Chest requires 3 different Wizards to use the Cantrip Magic Touch at a cost of 5 Energy each and will reward those Wizards with 8 random Cantrips of the Rank corresponding to the World:
Marleybone Cantrip Chests will only drop Rank 4 Spellements
Mooshu Cantrip Chests will only drop Rank 5 Spellements
Dragonspyre Cantrip Chests will only drop Rank 6 Spellements
Because Cantrip Chests can spawn in different locations around the different areas in each of these 3 Worlds, it is best to farm Cantrip Chests with a coordinated team of 3 Wizards for efficiency.
Be aware though that they are not guaranteed to spawn as they share spawning locations with Wooden and Silver Chests and some areas have more spawning locations than others. If you need help finding them, Final Bastion's Jennifer SoulStone has guides to Cantrip Chest Locations for Marleybone with Mooshu and Dragonspyre coming soon.
If you'd like to pay your way to maxing your Spellements or perhaps need just a couple more of one Spellement or two, you may be interested in the Malistaire Saga Spellemental Pack. For the low, low price of 199 Crowns, you can open this Spellemental Pack for 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 30 Spellements for 7 random Rank 1-6 Spells.
Similar to Cantrip Chests, you can use special Pet Adventure Talents known as Elemental Retriever and Spirit Retriever to send your pet out to retrieve Spellements from Wooden Chests as you're questing and exploring The Spiral. However, to use these Retriever Talents you will first need to unlock them which you can learn about in the Advanced Pets Section.
Using Elemental or Spirit Retriever on a Wooden Chest will give you one of three different things depending on the World you use it in:
Harvest the Wooden Chest and grant you 8 random Spellements of the Rank corresponding to the World
Harvest the Wooden Chest and grant you a mix of Spellements and Spellemental Treasure Cards
Fail to harvest the Wooden Chest and return a message saying the Adventure Talent is unusable in that World.
Using a Retriever Talent in:
Wizard City will reward you with a mix of Rank 1-2 Spellements and Rank 1-2 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Krokotopia will reward you with a mix of Rank 1-3 Spellements and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Marleybone will reward you with a mix of Rank 1-4 Spellements and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Mooshu will reward you with 8 random Rank 1-5 Spellements
Dragonspyre will reward you with 8 random Rank 2-6 Spellements
Any other World will result in a "This pet power fizzles in this world" error message.
For Arc 1 Worlds Specifically, the mix of Spellements and Spellemental Treasure Cards you are rewarded each time you use a Retriever Talent will depend on the World it is being used in, as explained in this Dev Diary by Cam and Artie. With this in mind, using the talent in:
Wizard City will reward you with a mix of approximately 40% Spellements and 60% Treasure Cards
Krokotopia will reward you with a mix of approximately 60% Spellements and 40% Treasure Cards
Marleybone will reward you with a mix of approximately 80% Spellements and 20% Treasure Cards
Mooshu and Dragonspyre will always reward you with 100% Spellements and 0% Treasure Cards
The Voracious Void Raid is one of the best passive sources for collecting your Rank 1-6 Spellements to upgrade your Trained Spells as every time you complete certain challenges in the Voracious Void Raid, you will be rewarded with a mix of Spellements.
Unfortunately, this Raid can reward you with of any of the 42 different Rank 1-6 Spellements currently available rather than specific Ranks or Schools. As such, this may not be the best way to grind specific Spellements to Max Tier but it is a nice secondary reward for participating in a Raid with your Guild.
As you're questing through the Worlds of the Spiral for the first or hundredth time, you'll likely encounter Bosses that will reward you with a mix of Spellements for specific Ranks and Schools. However, if you've quested too far then the Bosses that reward you with these Spellements will no longer drop them for you so be sure to read this section very carefully.
Starting with Krokotopia, each Arc 1 World has a variety of Bosses, typically at the end of an Area or Zone as well as the End of World Boss that will reward eligible players with Rank 1-6 Spellements and in some cases Spellemental Treasure Cards based on the World:
Bosses in Krokotopia will drop Rank 1-3 Spellements and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Bosses in Marleybone will drop Rank 1-4 Spellements and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Bosses in Mooshu will drop only Rank 1-5 Spellements
Bosses in Dragonspyre will drop only Rank 2-6 Spellements
Furthermore, these Bosses will only drop Elemental or Spiritual Spellements, however, a select few Bosses in Mooshu and Dragonspyre will drop Elemental and Spiritual Spellements with a larger portion of Balance Spellements being rewarded.
To be eligible to receive these Spellements as a reward from these bosses, you must meet the following conditions.
You must have the Main Quest Completion Badge for the previous World
You must not have the Main Quest Completion Badge for the next World
To learn which Bosses in each Arc 1 World will drop Spellements to eligible Wizards, please review the four sub-tables in the table below. Bosses with boxes filled the same color as the World name are the ones that are best to farm for your Spellements.
You will likely notice that each Boss in the table below has a Drop Range for the number of Spellements they can drop per defeat that is either a range between two numbers, or a guaranteed number. These Drop Ranges are all from Wizard101 Central or Ferricord community member's personal data and observations.
The reason for these Drop Ranges is because there are a certain number of slots allotted in the Bosses drop pools for each Rank of Spellement and as Krokotopia and Marleybone do not have a full drop pool of 5 different Rank Spellements, the empty slots are filled with Spellemental Treasure Cards as explained in this Dev Diary by Cam and Artie. With this in mind:
Krokotopia Bosses will reward you with a mix of approximately 60% Spellements and 40% Treasure Cards
Marleybone Bosses will reward you with a mix of approximately 80% Spellements and 20% Treasure Cards
Mooshu and Dragonspyre Bosses will always reward you with 100% Spellements and 0% Treasure Cards

Arc 4 Spellements, also known as the Karamelle & Lemuria Shadow-Enhanced Spells and the recently introduced Novus School Pip Spells can currently be obtained from a variety of sources with some of them being easier and more worthwhile than others. Of course, you can use a combination of some or all of these sources to max out your Arc 4 Spellements, but it will still take a lot of time, effort and investment to do so. As of now, Arc 4 Spellements can be obtained from the following sources:
Cantrip Chests are one of the primary ways for Max Level Wizards to obtain Spellements for their Novus Spells which utilize School Pips, however, anyone Level 20+ can use Cantrip Chests. Unfortunately the down side to using Cantrip Chests for Arc 4 Spellements is that they're only found in Novus and cannot reward you with Karamelle and Lemuria Spellements.
Opening a Cantrip Chest requires 3 different Wizards to use the Cantrip Magic Touch at a cost of 5 Energy each and will reward those Wizards with 8 random Cantrips of the Rank corresponding to the World:
Novus Cantrip Chests will only drop Rank 3 + 1 School Pip Spellements
Because Cantrip Chests can spawn in different locations around the 4 areas of Novus, it is best to farm Cantrip Chests with a coordinated team of 3 Wizards for efficiency. Be aware though that they are not guaranteed to spawn as they share spawning locations with Wooden and Silver Chests and some areas have more spawning locations than others. If you need help finding them, Final Bastion's Jennifer SoulStone has a guide to Cantrip Chest Locations for Novus here.
Completing the Main and Side Quests of the Arc 4 Worlds is your best way to get a good chunk of Spellements for your Arc 4 Shadow-Enhanced Spells and School Pip Spell. The reason for this is because as you complete every Main Quest, you will be rewarded with Spellements for your School's Spell from that World.
By the time you complete the Main Storyline, you should have the 75 Spellements you need to upgrade your Spell to Tier 2. If you happen to have a little less, you can complete some Side Quests for more or pick them up while doing some Boss Farming for Gear.
Karamelle will reward you with a mix of Karamelle Spellements (Rank 5 Shadow-Enhanced) and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Lemuria will reward you with a mix of Lemuria Spellements (Rank 6 Shadow-Enhanced) and Rank 1-3 Spellemental Treasure Cards
Novus will reward you with a mix of 8 Novus Spellements (Rank 3+1 School Pip)
As you're questing through the Arc 4 Worlds of the Spiral for the first or hundredth time, you'll likely encounter Bosses that will reward you with a mix of Spellements depending on the Arc 4 World you are in.
Starting with Karamelle, each Arc 4 World has a variety of Bosses, typically at the end of an Area or Zone as well as the End of World Boss that will reward players with Spellements from that World and in some cases, previous Worlds in the Arc:
Bosses in Karamalle will only drop Rank 5 Shadow-Enhanced Spellements for your school
Bosses in Lemuria will only drop Rank 6 Shadow-Enhanced Spellements for your school
Bosses in Novus will drop Rank 3+1 School Pip Spellements and Rank 5 & 6 Shadow-Enhanced Spellements for all schools
Please be aware that the difficulty of these Bosses will impact the amount of Spellements you are awarded per defeat. For example, a Boss in Karamelle that you can easily defeat on Round 1 will drop less Spellements than a Boss in Novus that requires a minimum of 20 minutes per defeat.
Lore Spellements can currently be obtained from a variety of sources with some of them being easier and more worthwhile than others. Of course, you can use a combination of some or all of these sources to max out your Lore Spellements, but it will still take a lot of time, effort and investment to do so. As of now, Lore Spellements can be obtained from the following sources:
Introduced as a "Limited Time" deal, the Deluxe Spellement Pack is an add-on that you can purchase for $2 USD a month and gives you 1 Deluxe Spellement Pack every 7 days.
The first time you open this Pack, you will always receive 4 Steal Pip Spellements as one of your seven rewards, and the remaining six will be random Lore Spellements. The second and every succeeding time you open this Pack, you will always receive at least 1 Lore Spellement for each of the 7 Schools with chances of getting 2,3,4,6,8 or even 30 Lore Spellements in one reward.
However, if you do not Unlock Steal Pip with the 4 Spellements rewarded in your first Pack, every succeeding Pack will give you 4 guaranteed Steal Pip Spellements.
Introduced with the Summer 2022 Update, the New and Updated Gold Skeleton Key Bosses will drop 14-16 Spellements each time you defeat them which make them a great source for Lore Spellements, but they only drop Spellements from a specific Lore Pack and have very strict rules for rewards.
Baron Von Bracken will only drop Wysterian Lore Spellements
Drowned Dan will only drop Celestian Lore Spellements
High Loremagus will only drop Keeper's Lore Spellements
Ixcax CursedWing will only drop Shaman's Lore Spellements
King Borr will only drop Grizzheim Lore Spellements
Lady Stonegaze will only drop Immortal's Lore Spellements
Lambent Fire will only drop Knight's Lore Spellements
Spirit of Ignorance will only drop Ranger's Lore Spellements
Takanobu the Masterless will only drop Ninja's Lore Spellements
Krampus will only drop Yuletide Lore Spellements and is only available during Yuletide Events
To learn which Lore Spellements are included in each Lore Spellement Collection, please review the table at the end of this sub-section on Lore Spellements. To learn more about these Key Bosses, their cheats and their requirements for rewards, please visit the Gold Skeleton Key Bosses Section.
The Voracious Void Raid is one of the best passive sources for collecting Lore Spellements to unlock and upgrade your Lore Spells, however, this Raid only drops Lore Spellements that are contained within the Arc 1 Worlds, corresponding to the World locations of their associated Gold Skeleton Key Bosses. This means if you're looking to get Spellements for Lore Spells from Arc 2 Worlds like Ship of Fools and Deer Knight, you'll need to farm their respective Gold Skeleton Key Bosses or hope that future Raids will reward us with Arc 2 Lore Spellements.
Every time you complete certain challenges in the Voracious Void Raid, you will be rewarded with a mix of Lore Spellements from the following Lore Spellement Collections:
Ravenwood Ranger's Lore
Ninja's Lore
Keeper's Lore
Grizzleheim Lore
Wysteria Lore
To learn which Lore Spellements are included in each Lore Spellement Collection, please review the table at the end of this sub-section on Lore Spellements. To learn more about the associated Gold Skeleton Key Bosses, their cheats and their requirements for rewards, please visit the Gold Skeleton Key Bosses Section.
The Scroll of Fortune has recently begun rewarding small amounts of School Specific Lore Spells at different rewards tiers which seems great. The issue with this is that the Scroll of Fortune rewards are notorious for being broken, and a few Spellements here and there every 4 months won't get you very far very fast.
Spellemental Lore Packs can be a great source with drop rates of 1, 3, 5, 30 and 35 Spellements at a time from a single pack reward if you're lucky. However, unless you're willing to drop half your paycheck to try and max out a Spellement it's honestly not worth it and you're better off fighting Gold Skeleton Key Bosses for their associated Lore Spellements.
The table below will show you which Lore Spellements are available from each Spellemental Pack and you can learn which Gold Skeleton Key Bosses drop each set of Spellements in the Gold Skeleton Key Bosses Section here.

Beastmoon Spellements can currently be obtained from a variety of sources with some of them being easier and more worthwhile than others. Of course, you can use a combination of some or all of these sources to max out your Beastmoon Spellements, but it will still take a lot of time, effort and investment to do so. As of now, Beastmoon Spellements can be obtained from the following sources:
While it is a huge time investment, each time you complete a Beastmoon Hunt match, you will be rewarded with a random mix of Spellements based on the results of the game:
Winning the Match will reward you with a mix of 4 random Beastmoon Spellements
Losing the Match will reward you with 1 random Beastmoon Spellement
While it is a huge time investment, each time you complete a Beastmoon Hunt match, you will be rewarded with a random mix of Spellements based on the results of the game:
Winning the Match will reward you with 5-6 Spellements
Losing the Match will reward you with 1 Spellement
For this particular version of the Beastmoon Event, the Schools of Spellements you receive are based on the type of Beastmoon currently active:
Matches played during a Elemental Beastmoon will reward you with a mix of Elemental and Balance Beastmoon Spellements
Matches played during a Spirit Beastmoon will reward you with a mix of Spirit and Balance Beastmoon Spellements
Matches played during a Balance Beastmoon will reward you with a mix of Elemental, Spirit and Balance Beastmoon Spellements with an increased chance of Balance Beastmoon Spellements
Each time you harvest a School Beastmoon Seed, you will be rewarded with 1 Spellement of the corresponding School Triad.
Harvesting a Fire, Ice or Storm Beastmoon Seed will always reward you with a Fire, Ice, Storm or Balance Beastmoon Spellement
Harvesting a Life, Myth or Death Beastmoon Seed will always reward you with a Life, Myth, Death or Balance Beastmoon Spellement
Harvesting a Balance Beastmoon Seed can reward you with any Beastmoon Spellement with an increased chance of a Balance Beastmoon Spellement
To best maximize the rewards from your School Beastmoon Seeds, you should harvest them during the Double Gardening Member Benefit as it will double the Spellements you receive.
Unfortunately another huge investment, you can use the Beastmoon Spellement Recipes you have a chance to receive from harvesting Beastmoon Seeds to craft your Beastmoon Spellements. Each time you craft the Spellement using this recipe, you will be rewarded with 5 Beastmoon Spellements, however, the cost is considerable as it requires:
1 Corresponding Treasure Card
4 Beastmoon Idols of a Specific Beast Form
1 Moongold Dust
Furthermore, if you need to craft the corresponding Treasure Card, they are only available during the corresponding Elemental, Spirit or Balance Beastmoon Monster Mayhem Events and each require:
10 Hunter's Moonstone
8 Elemental/Spirit/Balance Moonstone
4 School Specific Moonstone
To learn more information, including how to acquire all of these different Reagents, please visit the Beastmoon Section.
Introduced as the first ever Spellements in the Fall 2019 Update, Delay Cast Spellements can currently only be obtained from two sources with one requiring endless grinding and the other requiring the use of Crowns and real world money. Of course, you can use a combination of these two sources to max out your Delay Cast Spellements, but it will still take a lot of time, effort and investment to do so.
These Spellements are unique from others as they allow you to enchant your other cards and delay their cast to the next round of Combat at the cost of adding 4 Pips to the card. When Nightbringer is applied to a Spell, it will be cast 2nd and when Daybreaker is applied to a Spell, it will be cast 1st, allowing you to technically cast 2 Spells in one turn.
While these Spellements are handy to have for some niche strategies against Bosses, especially ones that utilize bubbles or shields, they aren't really used in day-to-day PvE and are currently Banned from PvP. As of now, Delay Cast Spellements can be obtained from the sources below.
As you're questing through the Wizard City Underground and The Catacombs, you may be lucky enough to receive a couple of Nightbringer or Daybreaker Spellements as a rare reward from Bosses in drops of 1,3,5 and 30.
If you intend to unlock or max out these Spellements using this method you will be best to farm King Detritus, the first Boss at the end of the first instance quest in The Catacombs Questline. This is because of the difficulty of many of The Catacombs Bosses and increasing lack of Wizards questing through that area as Dragoon Gear becomes more and more irrelevant. Additionally, King Detritus is included in the Free to Play Area of Wizard City so you can farm him whenever you like.
The Druids Hoard Pack can be a great source of Delay Cast Spellements with drop rates of 1, 3, 5, 30 and 35 Spellements at a time from a single pack reward if you're lucky. However, unless you're willing to drop half your paycheck to try and max out one or both of these Spellements it's honestly not worth it and you're better off farming King Detritus and hoping you get extremely lucky with lots of 30 drops.
