How does Pray First work? At your scheduled prayer time, selected apps pause and you're guided through a prayer shaped by your focus, situation, who you're praying for, and the posture of your heart. When you complete your prayer, your apps resume.
Do I need to create an account? No. Pray First works without an account. Your prayers and settings are stored on your device.

How do I set up app pausing? Open Pray First, go to Settings > Protected Apps, and select the apps you'd like to pause during prayer times. You'll need to grant Family Controls permission when prompted by iOS.
Why did my apps stop pausing? Make sure Screen Time permission is still granted. Go to iPhone Settings > Screen Time and check that Pray First has access. Also verify you have at least one prayer time scheduled in Settings > Prayer Schedules.
Can I disable app pausing without deleting my schedule? Yes. Go to Settings > Protected Apps and clear your app selection. Your prayer schedule will remain intact.
Is Pray First monitoring my screen time? No. Pray First uses Apple's Screen Time API to schedule pauses, but it does not read your screen time data or usage history. The pausing is enforced by iOS.

How do I schedule prayer times? Go to Settings > Prayer Schedules to add, edit, or remove your prayer times. At each scheduled time, your selected apps will pause until you complete your prayer.
How many prayer times can I add? You can add as many prayer times as you need — morning, midday, evening, and more.
Why isn't my prayer time triggering? Make sure the prayer time is enabled (not toggled off). Also check that you've selected at least one protected app in Settings > Protected Apps, and that Screen Time permission is granted.

How do I enable prayer reminders? Prayer reminders require Pray First Pro. If you're subscribed, go to Settings > Notifications and toggle notifications on.
I'm not receiving notifications. Make sure notifications are enabled in Pray First (Settings > Notifications) and also in your iPhone's system settings (Settings > Notifications > Pray First). Check that Do Not Focus or a Focus mode isn't silencing them.

How are prayers generated? Prayers are generated from templates based on the options you choose: your focus (e.g., peace, wisdom), your current context (e.g., overwhelmed, waiting), who you're praying for (yourself, family, others), and your heart posture (e.g., surrender, gratitude).
Which Bible translation does Pray First use? Scripture quotations are from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB). The BSB text has been dedicated to the public domain by the Berean Bible.
Where is my prayer history? Prayer history is available with Pray First Pro. Saved prayers appear in the Prayer Library tab.

What does Pray First Pro include? Pro unlocks personal prayers saved to your library, full prayer history, and prayer time reminders via notifications. Both weekly and annual plans include a 7-day free trial.
How do I restore my subscription after reinstalling? Open Pray First, go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription? Open iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, then select Pray First and tap Cancel. You'll continue to have Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
How do I manage my subscription? If you're subscribed, go to Settings > Manage Subscription in Pray First.

How do I change the app background? Go to Settings > Background to choose from the available gradient or photo options.

Where is my data stored? All data — prayers, schedules, preferences — is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
How do I delete all my data? Go to Settings and use the "Clear All Data" option (available in the debug/reset section). This removes all prayers, schedules, selected apps, and preferences and resets the app to its initial state.
