Técnicas e tecnologias para a pesquisa

In him research activities, Fernando Lacerda observed some difficulties and tried to develop solutions. They are presented in the following items.

Technique: Document Sizing

Técnica: Medição de documentos

Context: Need to measure many musicographic documents for possible catalog production in a short period of on-site archival research. Solution: reproduce squared rulers on the cardboard sheets on which the documents are supported and adjust them to within the nearest centimeters. This allows for approximate measurement, and it is possible to calculate millimeters using the rule of three when the images are enlarged on a computer.

Technology: Removable table for document cleaning

Tecnologia: Mesa desmontável para higienização de documentos

Context: The high cost and the need for long distance travel make it impossible to use cleaning tables ("chapels") in field research - in loco archival research and collection treatment. Failure to use any structure that catches dirt can lead to contamination of the environment. Thus, the cleaning table was developed.

Technology: Cell phone holder for document photography

Tecnologia: Suporte de celular para a fotografia de documentos

Context: Need for a low-cost product to be used in field research with cell phones that have automatic focus adjustment and that can be replicated by students and others interested in digitizing collections. After automatic focus, photographs are taken by remote control.

Product: Cardboard boxes for storing documents

Produto: Caixas em papel cartão para acondicionamento de documentos

Context: There was a need for low-cost packaging that would keep documents in a horizontal position. The material used should have little impact on the preservation of documents (no glue or paper with an acidic pH). Thus, based on the model used at the Mariana Music Museum, the "Lacerda Boxes" were developed and produced locally, and have been the subject of classes and courses in several locations in Brazil.

Produto: Quebra-cabeças de documentos musicográficos

Context: Scientific dissemination of musicological research to the general public. To generate interest, a puzzle accompanied by a brief printed explanation was chosen and distributed to those who proposed to assemble it: "Historical musicology: putting pieces together to understand musical practices of the past". Presented at the LabEtno de Portas Abertas [Open Doors Laboratory of Ethnomusicology] exhibition in Belém-PA, in 2019.

Technology: Selfie Holder - Adapted with Tripod Clamp

Tecnologia: Suporte de bastão para selfie - Adaptação com braçadeira para tripé

Context: There was a need for a portable device that would allow: (1) photographing images of St. Anne, the Master for research any musicographic records, when they are located on altars; (2) photographing documents with a cell phone without having to hold the device, using only a small remote control. With your hands free, you can handle the documents more carefully. With the use of the tripod clamp, you can attach the stick to doors, microphone stands, tripods, bookcase columns, among other vertical items.
