My name is Jenelle Fernandez-McDuffie. I have been teaching for 16 years. Previously, I taught Elementary Spanish and college level Spanish. I taught as an adjunct professor at South Georgia College and Georgia Perimeter College for 8 years. I currently teach Spanish within the Fairfax County Public School District. I love to teach and have a passion for sharing my love of the Spanish Language and Culture with my students. I enjoy making learning Spanish relevant, fun, and applicable to the lives of my students.
Student learning and student engagement are my primary focuses within my instruction. I use various strategies that support student learning and student engagement. My classroom is student-centered and applies a blended and online learning environment. I am a graduate of George Mason University, where I received a Master of Education: Education Technology: Blended & Online Learning.
As an expert in utilizing digital tools (web-based applications) to promote student engagement and support student learning. I support, encourage, collaborate with, and assist other teachers in implementing a Blended and Online Learning environment within their classrooms.
I enjoy serving both student and adult learners through clear, high expectations, facilitation, and support that helps them reach their goals. I am highly creative, organized, driven, and an excellent communicator with a strong work ethic.
Outside of work, I love to attend zumba classes, travel, read, and spend time with family and friends.
The first thing you may notice about me is my SMILE. I love to smile, laugh, and spend time with those who are important to me.
My husband (Michael) and my dog (Diggle) are two of the few people that are important to me. My dog Diggle is named after a character in one of my favorite TV shows.
Fernandez is my maiden name.
I love to dance salsa and teach/attend zumba classes and practice yoga.
