Had I not been born in Marlborough, and brought up in Auckland, I would’ve been a 5th generation Cantabrian. Despite that, a good 70% of my immediate or extended family never escaped... or just chose to move back there. Christchurch was a big part of my childhood. The earthquakes broke my heart, and while I was not there to experience the 2 big ones, and only caught 2 of the 10,000 odd aftershocks, I knew that the resilience of Cantabrians would eventually shine through and Christchurch will come through stronger than ever. I wrote this concert march in the month following the 22 February 2011 quake, and managed to recently rework it. Enjoy!
