A self-reflective timeline evaluates my growth from before, during, and following the duration of four @One professional development courses.
Stepping Back: Where I Was
I am a lifelong learner with a passion for teaching and personally strive to become more technology savvy. I continually look for learning opportunities to stay well informed and up to date to provide higher quality student-centered support as an information literacy and library instructor.
During my attendance at workshops for the 2018-19 San Diego/Imperial County Community College Association (SDICCCA) Fellowship, I learned about this exciting professional development opportunity that was available to new and experienced higher educators and without hesitation, I quickly enrolled in the certificate pathway for online teaching with @One.
The Learning Process: Where I Am
With a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills, I persevered, quickly grasping new concepts and finding myself seeking more learning opportunities along the way. While my personal teaching experience in the academic field has been limited, I found creative avenues to use my personable and patient nature to immediately apply my new educational experiences, knowledge, and skills to support students as an advocate and teacher in my one-shot information literacy instruction.
Looking Forward: Where I'm Headed
I avidly seek latest and up-to-date technology and pedagogical practices. Below, I have compiled a listing of local and virtual learning opportunities that will strengthen my ability to develop student-centered instruction that meets all community college students.
