Use multiple tools to support instructor-to-student interaction
Curated with photos from Unsplash and developed using Adobe Spark, this critical-reflective slideshow presentation shows my growth and development towards humanizing my pedagogical teaching and develop a course of action for future professional development in connection with course material. This final reflection was added to Padlet using App smashing to inspire the next participants in Humanizing Online Teaching across California.
To view the slideshow presentation above, scroll down using the inside side bar beginning on the slide that reads Humanizing Online Teaching: A Personal Reflection.
The following artifacts serve as evidence to demonstrate my mastery of Principle One: Humanize.
Online Student Voices Project
Connection to Principle One: This project introduces the digital storytelling tool, Adobe Spark Video, to reflect on an interviewed student's online experiences and highlights the use of creativity, the highest order thinking skill in Bloom’s Taxomony Framework. This virtual tool supports student-to-student interactions and presence, giving them the creative freedom to design a presentation that engages and informs their peers about course material and their real-world experiences.
To ensure videos are accessible for all learners, captioning is available for both videos. The CC button allows for captioning to be turned on/off.
Word Detectives: Discover Clues for Keyword Searches Video Showcase
Connection to Principle One: Created for a Canvas content page, this second example demonstrates my ability to support instructor-to-student interaction. I convey a humanized online instructor presence to facilitate student engagement and help build meaningful connections to student’s learning experiences.
Research Basics: Search Strategies
Researching a topic can be overwhelming and result in hundreds, maybe thousands, of articles that are not necessarily pertinent.
This 2-minute introductory video tutorial on Boolean Operators and Phrase Searching will help you develop keyword search strategies to narrow your results and find relevant information on your research topic. These techniques will help you prepare to conduct searches in the library’s databases and also be invaluable when searching Google or other web search engines.
To help in your viewing, CC captions are available.
