At Feet First First Arts Academy we strive to give our students as many performance opportunities as we possibly can to showcase their talent.
We hold a number of performances a year, 2 dance shows, a drama production and art exhibitions. We also encourage our students to take ownership of performances. We do this twice a year with our 'Mobile phone performance festival' and our 'Feet Firsts Got Talent' performance.
Our large performances always take place in a professional venue allowing our students to experience all the intricacies that come with a professional performance.
We continued to offer these opportunities throughout the pandemic lockdowns. Our students had the opportunity to take part in a number of remote dance projects and also we held our first ever virtual dance show in July 2020
We also look for performance opportunities outside of our own to broaden our students understanding of the performance world and to give them the chance to meet other like minded students from other performance schools
Click the link below to see our first remote dance project which was a book dance with students learning all the material via Zoom and then sending us their performances.
Here we have the trailer for our summer dance for camera show project. In this project our students learnt 2 dances and went to a few different locations in Northumberland to shoot them. We then edited the pieces together and held a a screening of the students work at a local community cinema.
Here we have some of students performing in their first dance for camera project.
Throughout the year we give our students opportunities for site specific photo shoots.
This not only helps them to build their confidence but is also a great team building experience plus they get some gorgeous photos as a keep sake.
During the pandemic we had to shift our thinking with regards performance. Our students love performing live but sadly were unable to do this due to COVID restrictions.
This was when we developed our dance for camera projects. The first ones were created remotely with our students learning material via Zoom then once we were allowed to re open our doors we began working on our projects that were shot on location at various North East locations. These projects are something that we are looking to continue in the future.
This was also what inspired our 'Mobile phone dance festival' which is a great opportunity for our students to take control of their choreographic voice.
Other than our annual in house performances we also seek out other performance opportunities for our students.
In the past our students have been used in music videos for local bands, to open sporting events, to provide the entertainment at gala events (pictured above) and at local summer fairs.
