Title: “Welfare implications of healthcare platforms”

joint with Chiara Canta (TBS), Leonardo Madio (U of Padova) and Andrea Mantovani (TBS).

Abstract: We investigate the welfare effect of a healthcare platform that orchestrates interactions between physicians and patients. To this end, we consider a platform that improves matching between patients and physicians. We find that, while patients always benefit from the platform, this is not always the case for physicians, who pay an access fee that could be excessive. We also investigate the potential distortions that can arise in this market due, for example, to the presence of regulated prices.
