Saratoga-class Cruisers

       Originally planned to be a frontline vessel, the Saratoga-class Cruiser was cut down to being one single ship, USS Saratoga. She is currently in service with the Federation Starfleet, and is based in Rydonia City, Rydonia. 

History

      After the success of the Starbird-class, the Federation Government authorized Gateway Co. to research a new cruiser, to supplement the smaller Frigates and Larger Destroyers. The Company was contracted for an initial seven vessels, with a possibility of more (some sources claim up to 20 more) in the future. 

      However, it was soon noted that the increasing capability of Destroyers in CIC (close-in-combat) and with larger Frigate armaments, the ships were starting to seem to be a waste of time. Instead, the Cruisers were all canceled, with the exception of the USS Saratoga, already under construction.
