The Starbird-class Cruiser, sometimes called the NATO Cruiser (due to the use of the NATO alphabet in the naming), is a class of 7 light cruisers built by Rydon Foldhazi for the United Federation Fleet.
After Rydonia Joined the United Federation as a State, Connor Zink made his announcement for a 200-plane fleet. Rydonian Shipyards were contracted for a group of 7 ships of Frigate or Cruiser-size. These ships would become the Starbird-class.
The naming process of the Starbird-class is very out of the ordinary. The vessels all have the USS Prefix, as is standard, but they all also have the word "Starbird" in the name. The Starbird is one of the symbols on the Seal of the UFP, was featured on the Flag of the New Federation and the State of Wyalusa. Afterwards, either "Alpha, Charlie, Bravo," or "Delta" is included, followed by a number.
This created some controversy, specifically with the Secretary of Defense John B.G., who is in charge of naming new vessels, about whether or not the names were permissible. But eventually it was decided that the names followed all necessary rules set down by the UFP.
