Jacob Thomas Monday is a Federation and West Mendotan Statesman, Politician, military commander, and businessman who is best known for serving as the 1st President of the West Mendotan Republic. His career spanned more than 50 months of service, as the King of Salamandastron, the Senator for Patriam, and the 13th and 15th Vice President of the United Federation. He was rated the second most popular politician in the U.F.P. according to the Parliamentary Elections just before being elected the 14th President of the United Federation for one term. His most well recognized service is as the President of the West Mendotan Republic, a nation which he almost singularly led to becoming one of the foremost superpowers of the Sun Prairie Nations. One of the key leaders of the Allied Powers during Prairie War III, he was paramount in the organization and deployment of the West Mendotan Armed Forces, and was a member and ardent supporter of the United Federation Government-In-Exile.
Jacob Monday is the second-richest man in the SPN, mostly from his profitable company, Patriam National, of which he is the CEO. Monday was, in addition, the first ever Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Army, the combined military of the Federation, New Washburn, and Despa. He is only 1 of three people to ever be appointed "Supreme Allied Commander," along with Jackson Deminsky and John Banks-George. Under Addison Boott, he became the Vice-President of the United Federation, and the first Pacifist Party VP.
During the Second Great Prairie War, Monday commanded the 2nd Battle Squadron, one of several fleets that was combined from the Standard Numerical Fleets (SNF) to fight as large task forces. His actions earned him renown and President Anderson would later award him with the highest commendation in the Federation, the Honor and Valor Medal. When the war was over, he resigned his official commission to become the Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Army, the first person ever to hold such a rank.
Monday is the Founder of the Pacifist Party, and was that party's nominee for the Presidency in the October UFP Elections for 2019. He was 3 points off of winning the election. His election in 2020 was considered a turning point in Federation Politics, as for the first time a candidate from neither the Republicats, who were now disbanded, and the ruling Union Party won a Presidential Election.
During his tenure as Presidents, Jacob Monday focused largely on revamping small business interests in the country, especially with the controversial BIDA, the Business, Innovation, and Development Act which was filibustered by the Conservative Party. The act was by far the most comprehensive piece of single economic legislation the Federation has ever passed. In addition, he launched a major shipbuilding initiative for the Federation Navy, rebuilding the fleet with new and more advanced ships. In addition, he was largely responsible for leading the country through the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During Jacob Monday's early Federation Career, he served in the United Federation Air Force, during the War on Noah. During this war, he became friends with then-President John Banks-George, and moved up to the rank of commodore.
After the election of Ainsley Wall to the presidency, Jacob Monday established the Mountain Nation of Salamandastron. This nation would recur for short periods over several years, and during the Granache War, aided the United Federation and it's allies with the victory in the war, supplying weapons and military aircraft.
After the Federation Reformation, Jacob Monday was largely inactive, until the early fall of 2018, during which he became the Senator for the new state of Patriam, in and around the city of Columbus. As senator he became the leader of the Pacifist Party, and several times made Presidential Runs, often leading very tight races.
He was for a short time involved in the Monday Rebellion, after which his position was restored. During the First Great Prairie War, he led the Federation 1st Fleet 2nd Division, receiving the Distinguished Service Commendation. He was promoted the Admiral of the 16th Fleet, and became the Secretary of the Navy
Jacob Monday was sworn in, by tradition, before President Petri, replacing Chyler Smith to become the 15th Vice President, despite his preceding her under President Boott, as the 13th Vice-President. Under Calvin Petri, Monday was another extremely active VP, helping to assure SPATO naval supremacy and working to continue construction of new vessels.
In addition, Monday also worked to build up the military forces of West Mendota at the same time, in preparation for what he, and many of his advisers, saw as an inevitable future large-scale conflict. Under his leadership West Mendota became the third largest military in SPATO, and the second largest Single-nation military.
During the Tank Arms race in mid-February 2020, his company, Patriam National, built several light tanks for SPATO. In addition, he helped personally design the Janesville-class Amphibious Assault Ships and the Anderson-class Supercarrier.
In February 2020, Jacob Monday announced formally that he would seek the Pacifist-Union Party nomination for the Presidency of the United Federation. His platform included a plan for peacekeeping internationally, cutting loopholes in the Federation, rooting out corruption, and continuing to keep the Federation both involved in and a leading player in SPATO.
Jacob Monday's inaugural address is widely considered to be one of the best ever delivered in the Federations history. It was short, but well tempered and consistently patriotic in it's message. Several notable quotes from the speech are here below:
"Friends and Members of the Federation, to be a leader is to be Humble and Kind. A Leader does what is best for his allies, but does what is even better for his people."
"Citizens of The United Federation, this is a tough time for everyone. It is hard for our allies, our enemies and us. The Corona virus has affected our economy and our production. We are like a mighty oak infested with termites. Covid is a bucking horse, a thundering ocean, each refusing to be tamed. But just like we have demonstrated time and time again, We Will Win This War."
"May God Bless you, God Bless the Federation. And may he guide me in the days to come."
