The Fearrington Swim and Croquet Club follows current Chatham County Public Health Department guidelines to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Virus and maintain a safe pool environment for members, guests and staff. Please check here and at the club periodically for updates.
No members, staff and guests should come to the club if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing any symptoms.
Consider wearing a mask indoors in public, especially if you are at high risk of severe illness.
Masks are optional when entering and exiting the attendant’s area. Masks are not mandated when sitting on the pool deck and certainly not when in the water.
Consult your healthcare provider about staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
Get tested if you have symptoms.
Social Distancing
Social distancing is vital to keeping our membership safe, and is encouraged. Please stay six feet away from people you don’t live with, both in and out of the water, when appropriate.
Those who wish to avoid the most crowded times at the pool are encouraged to use their key card to come between 6:00 am and the opening Pool Hour when the attendant arrives. No guests are allowed before the attendant arrives. Email us at fearringtonswimcroquet@gmail.com to request a key card; key cards cost $5 each. In the past, we have called these cards early access cards.
One swimmer per lap lane unless shared with a family member.
The chairs, tables and lounge chairs will be spaced 6 feet apart.
Some furniture has been removed to prevent over-crowding. If any furniture is moved to accommodate a group, please wipe it down when finished and return it to its original location.
The water fountain will be available. We will also have water bottles for sale in the Cabana refrigerator for $1.00 each on the honor system. If you bring your own drinks, please remember no glass is allowed on the property.
Sanitation
Bathrooms will be cleaned more frequently, per CDC guidelines.
Hand sanitizer will be available at the front desk near the check in, and also at two sanitizing stations located on either side of the pool.
Miscellaneous
Small toys are allowed this season but not balls, please. You may bring your own noodle and kickboard. Please DO take them home when you leave.
Shuffleboard, tetherball, volleyball or ping-pong may be played on the upper lawn. We will be placing some of our long tables and chairs on the upper lawn for groups to use for meals, etc. Croquet rules will be discussed in the Croquet section of this site.
We will have classes at the pool this year.
What you can do to help
Adhere to 6-foot social distancing guidelines, in and out of the water when appropriate.
You may bring your own disinfectant wipes and sanitizers, and there will be some available poolside.
If any furniture is moved to accommodate a group, please wipe it down when finished and return it to its original location.
Consider showering before coming to the pool.
Take care to avoid congregating around the ladders and stairs of the pool.
Parents of small children should explain to their children to stay “a noodle’s length” away from people they don’t live with. Please make sure children do not block points of entry to the ladders or steps.
As always, please take directions from attendants.
Board members thank you for your cooperation. All members are responsible for the smooth operation of the Club. There may be differences of opinion about some of these restrictions. Please bear with us as we navigate this pandemic together, and share any concerns you may have. We’ll listen, consider your input, and check with the appropriate individuals and agencies to see if a modification is in order.
