Membership fee is 40.00 per year or by contributing 4 hours of service towards the co-op.
Commission rates begin at 35% each month but for every hour put towards our cooperative a percentage point will be deducted from their sales for that month. As an added bonus member that has the most in sales each month will have an additional 5% deducted from their rates for that month.
Ways members can earn deductions from their monthly commission rates include but are not limited to watching over the store front, managing mobile show room at events, time put in contributing to online presence with social media and co-op website, upkeep and Maintenace at store and workshop areas, and assisting with the co-op's bookkeeping.
An important aspect to this co-ops purpose is encouraging others to explore their creativity and at least once a year members need to engage with the public by either by demonstrations, teaching a workshop or inviting the community into your studio space to demonstrate the processes that you use to make your artwork. As an added incentive, when hosting workshops the member gets to keep 75% of the profit from class (cost of supplies gets deducted first) and hourly percentage points deducted on the from monthly reduction are 2% rather than just typical 1% per an hour.
Calendar through google is what we use to schedule days in shop, workshops, and events. It is the same Calander linked to our website and should be able book times/days through the website. Members will be responsible for signing up for days that match their availability and if something is to come up and they're not able to keep commitment expectations are to change Calander online at least two days in advance.
All work being displayed must be work completed by the co-op member, cataloged to stores inventory and tagged with artist name, title, price, and number corresponding to inventory log. Tagging is Soley the artist's that made the work responsibility and artwork that is not properly tagged will not be sold. All sales need to be logged in the shop ledger book as well as written receipts for each sale. Eventually will transition this process to online.
Part of our goal is to promote you as an artist and to do so we need new members to provide a brief artist statement / bio, a head shot and at least 5 photos of their artwork to be added to website and presented on social media. If need assistsence be sure to ask, quality photos is crucial to making good use our online tools. It's not required but is highly encouraged that artist learn to make use of these promotional tools from other members and it makes good use of time while in the store.
For artwork being offered online members will need to be provide to co-op photos, title, description, and in store price of work. Artwork online has an additional 20% added to price listed in store to cover time spent putting it online and shipping, artist are welcome to assist in this and get a part of the additional 20% (5% for putting it on website 15% for getting item shipped).
Sales tax will be the responsibility of Fear and Loathing where the buffalo Roam but taxes in regard to incomes it will be left up to each member to file individually under their own tax id #.
Fear and Loathing Where the Buffalo Roam is not liable for any lost, stolen or damaged works left in our care.
Any members that choose to leave the co-op will not be refunded the yearly fee regardless of time as time as member of the co-op. If a member fails to clear out their property within 30 days of declaring leaving of the group any “works” left thereafter will be considered abandoned/discarded and regarded as such.
ALL applicants are expected to understand and adhere to these agreements prior to utilizing benefits of shared workshop of the co-op and
Sign a liability waiver freeing Fear and Loathing Where the Buffalo Roam of any responsibility for any sort accidents that may arise.
It is individual's responsibility to have knowledge and application of all health and safety guidelines with tools and materials their working with, receive proper training before using any of the power tools that are available, and use personal protective equipment while working in our community workshop.
Be safe and responsible when working independently and take into consideration your own limitations and know of when a task is unsafe to tackle alone.
Respect and proper use of facilities and shop equipment is essential to keeping this opportunity available to our members.
In many cases I have enough materials to spare for member to try something new out or for a small project but be courteous and always ask first before you begin working on a project. If member ends up wanting to pursue a creative endeavor into production mode you will need to supply your own working materials and consumables for tools (i.e. Items likely consumed entirely or disposed with afterwards like metal cutting blades for the 4 in. grinder or x-acto blades or items like paint brushes and sandpaper.)
Use the right tool for the job, typical wear and tear is understandable but pushing equipment beyond its capabilities or improperly is considered misuse of tools and any damaged equipment under such circumstances will be expected to be replaced before workshop privileges are allowed to be continued. If ever unsure of tools use or capabilities take moment to ask another member or research it online. We are all here to help each other and make the most out of this opportunity of having access to this equipment.
All tools and equipment provided by Fear and Loathing/ Hunter Quarterman must stay at the facility. Other members may choose to lend out their tools but if doing so it is highly recommend equipment be inspected and inventoried by both parties beforehand to avoid being held responsible for damaged or missing parts.
Common courtesy is expected when using workshop areas, always clean up after yourself, be sensible about where you leave projects your working on and be willing to take turns on equipment when needed. Be considerate of other members, their space, and their property. Our co-op maintains a zero-tolerance policy on membership privileges for anyone that is found to be stealing from another.
We welcome members to bring along guest and encourage others to explore creative outlets but while using workspaces together members must be aware and responsible for the actions and safety of their guest, and they are not allowed to use any sort of power tools themselves without first signing a liability waiver.
Occasionally, changes may need to be made to contract agreements and shop's policies. All members will be notified of changes and existing members will be offered the option to drop their contract.
