Welcome 501st Troopers, here in this page and guide, you will learn how to use the republic shield as an enlisted and how the squad shield works as an NCO in 501st, how it will work, what not to with the shields and how our current shield codes work!
How to use the Republic Shields:
when you first joined enlisted, you have a republic shield, that has its own personal uses besides the squad shield, and below is the ways it is used.
Frontlines:
when shield is equipped, make sure you are on the frontlines with it beside the jedi. just cause you have shield doesn't you can run ahead with it, always stay beside or slightly behind the jedi with the shields.
Drawing Fire:
when using the shield or on the frontlines, one of the jobs with the shield is to draw enemy fire away from your allies, mostly when in medium-wide open spaces or when having to distract the enemy so fellow troopers may shoot it down with ease.
Cover Fire:
another usage for shields and the primary usage of the shield is to cover for fellow troopers and either be a living barricade/wall so trooper can hide behind you in certain situations and shoot from behind you so they don't get shot, or when covering a medic while they heal/revive a wounded trooper so they don't get shot in the process.
Police Shield Usage:
By the time you have reached NCO or joined Torrent Company, in place of the republic shield ya get the good ol deployable police shield. this functions kinda like the republic shield however can be deployed onto the ground as cover and if needed to shoot back. below is some of its rules and how it should be used.
Police Shield Placement:
When it comes to deploying the police shield you must right click onto the ground, however you must be mindful where you place it. for wide open area's its fine as long as its not in the way of vehicles, however in CQC area's or hallways, they must be limited to only 1-2 being placed down and MUST be placed on the sides as to not block all path's while getting decent coverage.
Police Shield Usage:
With the police shield it still has the same usage as the republic shield for cover and CQC and frontlines but this time can be placed down via right click for better coverage, however sometimes it flips over so we recommend you walk and while walking forward ya place the shield down, providing minimal chance for it to topple over. the police shield is basically a better version of the republic shield with better coverage and more uses in battle as ya can place it down and shoot from behind it utilizing it as a barricade.
Police Shield Bash Rule:
with the police shield it can shield bash with left click, being able to stun a player. with this, shield bashing is kept to a minimum and never to be used at all unless ordered/granted by GC (Ground Command in events), High comm or 501st Command. do not be doing this to fellow troopers meaning do not be repeatedly shield bashing a player, for it will be meant with a possible strike or worse, demotion or removal from the job that has that shield. however if code ooga booga is on a target, that is an excuse to shield bash until the code is over.
Police Shield No Prop Kill Rule:
As the police shield can be deployed, if used right it can prop kill by place it or toppling over a player. this is to never be done at all, maybe during down time but never outside of 501st bunks, if anyone is seen doing this outside of the bunks, it will be met with an immediate strike as its both RDM and Fail RP. ontop of that DONT place it on vehicles, cause it may cause crashes and damage vehicles.
Squad Shield Explanation/uses:
if you have became a SGT, at this point you have received the squad shield. the squad shield is a rayshield bubble where it blocks all enemy fire except rockets and artillery, and not able to shoot from inside. but it does have its uses so here is how it is used:
Frontline Coverfire:
when we are getting intense fire upon us from the enemy, the squad shield can be used to protect our troops while we take cover, get health and ammo, and/or setup barricades in the squad shield before it lowers. the squad shield is extremely helpful against enemy fire, saving us a lot of damage.
Turbo laser protection:
when the enemy lays down turbo lasers on us, this is what the squad shield is useful for, for it can block turbo lasers. this is perfect when there is no cover or we are out in the open, helping troops take cover and protect them from the enemies from the turbolasers.
Assisting Down troops/medical:
medical is the most useful battalion with medics in the army, picking up dead troops and giving them health and ammo on the field. however when the troop is in the open and/or they keep getting gunned down and the medic gets gunned down due to very intensive fire, the squad shield can be used to be placed by the down trooper and giving the medic some cover while they revive the trooper, giving them health and armor then retreat back before the squad shield is up. this is one of the primary uses that is a big help to both the down troopers and medical.
Forbidden Uses:
1: never run in front of troops to place the squad shield, wait and/or ask for permission and call it out first.
2: never use in tight hallways or small rooms, use them in big open rooms and wide open area's.
3: no maximum of how many squad shields can be placed outside events, but during events have a max of atleast 5-6 squad shields out at a time.
What not to use the republic Shields for.
VIP's, Prisoners and civilians:
under no circumstances are you to protect any VIP's, prisoners or civilians with your shields. that job is for Shock, RIOT, ARC and Senate commando's. we are a frontlines attack shield battalion unit, not a security unit. you may only do so if theres no SHOCK, RIOT, Senate Commandos or ARC and if GC says so, otherwise you don't.
Weapon Safety:
Never safety your shield during missions, events, patrols and trainings/sims. safetying your shield is technically fail rp since you cannot really safety a shield. only time you can do it is when during downtime, not too much but still, that is the only time you can safety your shield unless a 501st Senior NCO, Officer or command tells you to unsafety your shield.
if you do any thing listed here that you shouldn't be doing, you will be warned and punished accordingly depending on how bad it is.
Republic Shield Codes.
Listed below are the shield codes we have for 501st. people who can authorized/advert these codes are:
"501st Officer+, 501st VCMDR, 501st Commander and High Comm."
now here are the listed codes we currently have:
Code "Ooga Booga":
surround the targeted person/enemy and surround them with your shields, useful when detaining an enemy or just for fun sometimes and with police shield you are allowed to do the shield bash only in code ooga booga.
Code "Living wall":
form a line on the commanding officer standing on either his left or right sides and create a wall of shields, useful for open area's, could also be advancing forward with this formation as well
Code "Living Barricade":
same with the living wall, but crouching and being on either side of the commanding officer, either left or right. useful for holding position in an open field and so troopers could fire over you then hide behind you to reload and resupply, even for jedi when force is low.
Code "Barricade Quarters":
this would be use in closequarters, mostly tight hallways, where the commanding officer will call out 1-3 troops to stand beside em with their shields and crouch, providing cover fire in the hallway and also fellow troopers to fire over them and use them as cover.
If you see any of these codes adverted in chat by the proper ranks or said in 501st comms during events, depending on the code, you are to follow this code until the person who initiated it or someone higher ranking say's to disperse or cancel the code, if you have any question regarding shield codes please contact a 501st Officer+.
