From our Burrito Breakfast!
My internship at Ghilotti Bros., Inc. began in June 2025, where I have been working as a Human Resources Intern. During this experience, I have supported the full onboarding process for both new and returning employees, including completing employment paperwork, coordinating drug testing, and managing employee data using systems such as E-Verify, Smartsheet, and Microsoft 365. In addition to the hiring process, I have assisted with broader HR operations by updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conducting research to support employees in need of testing services. Beginning in January, I will transition into the role of Human Resources Assistant, which will allow me to take on additional responsibilities and continue building on the skills I have developed. Overall, this experience has helped me better understand the importance of organized, compliant, and people-centered HR practices in supporting both employees and the organization as a whole.
As a Student Ambassador I had the privilege of communicating with students from all around and hear what their interests are and why they are interested in attending Dominican. It was great to hear students wanting to stay in contact with the school and look forward to a campus tour. It was amazing to work with people from other backgrounds, cultures, interests during my time at the Office of Admissions.
I was employed at the Under Armour store in Gilroy for a total a year and eleven months. I would work there on weekends and holidays when I was not staying on campus. During my time there I would observe the managers on shift by asking them questions on sales and what we could do to meet our store goals. I had the privilege of helping the non-english speaking families that walked into the store by providing them with the in-store promotions, the selection of products, and purchasing. I was taught how to use different devices for purchasing items when the store was at it's busiest which showed how fast I could learn in a fast-paced environment.
I worked at Calvin Klein along with my other job at Under Armour as another opportunity to learn how to make sales and learn from my associates what it takes to run a store. Working there I attained different clientale than Under Armour and gathered more knowledge in customer needs. The environment in both jobs is a big change that teaches me patience and adaptibility. I am glad I was able to gather more retail knowledge during my summer break.
