My first semester of my Freshman year, I took Business Communications and Critical Thinking. This course was extremely impactful for me because, as a first-year college student, I had little to no skills with professionalism and the proper communication required in the business world. Throughout the semester I learned practical skills that have shaped my approach to the professional world, learning how to create a professional resume and cover letter that effectively highlight my skills and experiences. I also learned to create and deliver business presentations, which have helped me speak more confidently and clearly in front of an audience, though I still struggle with this sometimes! We were also taught proper email etiquette, networking on Linkedin, and business writing, which I now use on a daily basis. Overall, the course instilled a deeper understanding of how I should navigate the business world with professionalism.
