Sea Turtle Free Pattern

PDF Pattern

Materials

• 2 colors of yarn, (I used Bernat Blanket and Hobby Lobby Cozy with a Twist - discontinued)

• Crochet hook (I used 5mm)

• Stuffing

• Yarn needle - optional

• Safety eyes - optional (I used 10mm)

• Stitch marker - optional

• Scissors - optional

Stitches Used

• mr (magic ring)

• ch (chain) 

• sc (single crochet)

• inc (single crochet increase)

• dec (decrease)

• inv dec (invisible decrease)

• cc (color change)

• hdc (half double crochet)

• hdc inc (half double crochet increase)

• sl st (slip stitch)

• FLO (front loops only)

• BLO (back loops only)

• f/o (fasten off)

• st (stitch)

• [sc, dec]x8 (do an sc, then a dec, repeat 8 times total)

• (#) (stitch count after finishing a round)

Pattern

This pattern is crocheted in continuous rounds and NOT joined by a slip stitch at the end of the round, unless it says otherwise. 

Head

1. 6 sc in mr (6)

2. 6 inc (12)

3. [sc, inc]x 6 (18)

4. 18 sc (18)

5. 18 sc (18)

6. [sc, dec]x 6 (12) **place safety eyes between rounds 2 and 3, about 5 stitches apart**

7. [sc, dec]x 4 (8) **stuff the head**

8. 8 sc (8) f/o with short tail, no sewing needed

Fins, make 4

1. 6 hdc in mr, sl st to first st(6)

2. ch 1, 6 hdc inc, sl st to first st, ch 1 (12)

3. Fold in half and 6 hdc across, f/o and weave in ends

Body

Start in shell color

1. 8 sc in mr (8)
