Research
Leveraging established electrochemical engineering knowledge, we seek to advance electrochemical technologies that enable more efficient, durable, and scalable energy storage and conversion. We pursue this vision through iterative design–fabricate–characterize/test–learn approaches to engineer high-performance materials and architectures for electrochemical devices, including CO₂/water electrolysis, CO₂ capture, and redox flow batteries.
Mass Transport Characterization in Porous Media
We explore and learn from existing materials and platforms, as well as computational tools, to develop new component and material designs. We use imaging and characterization tools, such as X-ray tomography and radiography, to visualize and quantify material structure and transport behavior, complemented by pore scale modeling to understand structure–performance relationships.
Electrochemical Diagnostics
We combine electrochemical diagnostics with controlled testing from batch- to flow-cell scales to evaluate material and system performance under relevant operating conditions. We link mass transport characterization with electrochemical performance to continuously refine material design and optimize system performance.
