Here's the scoop...it takes a village AND we're looking for volunteers like YOU!
Do you want to lend a helping hand? See below for EVERYTHING you need to know to become a FOX-TASTIC VOLUNTEER!
A Welcome Message
from Council PTA
President Summer McBride
We are thankful for your support in making this a vibrant community at Farragut!!
Step 1: Complete CCUSD Volunteer Clearence Requirements if you want to volunteer during school hours. This requires the following:
Attend a New Volunteer Orientation and pick up a volunteer packet.
Obtain your TB clearance (form included in packet) from your medical provider, our school nurse’s office, or other accredited health agency.
Drop off your completed packet with the school. Bring your ID and your TB Clearance Form, then they will give you the Live Scan Document.
Make an appointment for Live Scan / Fingerprinting at the CCUSD Safety Office located at 4501 Elenda Street. Call them at (310) 842-4200 (Press *3312) to schedule your Live Scan visit. (8:30am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday, By appointment ONLY, no walk-ins)
Wait for notification from the school secretary, they will let you know when you are cleared. (Please note, it can take a few weeks to complete theclearance process so please be patient)
Step 2: Complete this Volunteer Request form at the beginning of each year
Step 3: Take our Volunteer Expectation Quiz so that we can confirm your understanding of our CCUSD expectations.
Step 4: Find the PERFECT role that fits your lifestyle and talents! In addition to the roles requested by our teachers within their classroom and volunteer opportunities with our PTA and Fan Club (Booster Organization), we have agreed that the following teams are critical to our community:
Copy Fairy - Our teachers are busy and would love your help as they prepare for class. You would pick up the copy orders in the staff work room and put the finished packets in the teacher’s mailbox. This is a faculty favorite!!
Patio/Campus Cleaning - Our custodial staff would love your support in keeping up with the classroom patios. This role begins with a check-in with Brian and the classroom teacher involved for supplies and specifics.
Yard Duty - Our students would love more structured games and activities during recess, and our staff could use your help. This may include helping with soccer, basketball, board games, gardening, and any other activities you may want to share.
Book Club - Our teachers would love a space where students could read to an adult and work through decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension. It would likely be from 8 to 830am.
Step 5: Once you have signed up, you will receive an email inviting you to join one of these teams.
Step 6: Ready to Roll! Please note: All volunteers must enter and leave via the school office where they must sign in with their valid California I.D. or Driver’s License. Volunteers will be issued a sticker badge to wear while on campus that describes the area you can access and your purpose. If a volunteer has a recurring role they may get a lanyard as well. This helps maintain a safe and secure environment while our students are in class. Thanks so much for your help!!!

Top Grades of the Week: Congrats to 1st grade (again) and 4th grade for the highest Direct Donations participation. Your surprise rewards are in the works!
Let's race to the $100K finish line, Fox families! Make a donation, find out if your company has a corporate match program, and share this link to boost our impact:

Our Fox community wouldn’t thrive without our amazing volunteers. Have you volunteered this school year – at an event, in-class, at meetings, running errands, writing emails, etc? We need you to log your hours! It’s imperative for PTA to retain our non-profit status so we need to report these hours.
You can log your hours either online at the link below or in-person in the Volunteer Hours Log in the Front Office (old school pen/paper style).
Thank you SO MUCH to those who have donated to the lounge so far this year! The teachers and staff are so very happy to have a clean, stocked place to come to when they're hungry, thirsty, or in need of caffeine. You are making a HUGE difference! Thanks again!
Donation ideas for December:

Peppermint or Gingerbread flavored ANYTHING!
Any snacks! Individually wrapped and/or bulk

Paper coffee cups with lids

Home Reading Program
Please return your completed November reading logs to your teachers or the PTA mailbox by Monday, December 2nd.
The hard copies for November reading logs were distributed, but you can also download it here.
Please only turn in a completed log, that includes parent initials and the total minutes read tabulated. If your student did not reach the reading minute goal, no need to turn in the log.
The Home Reading Program volunteers will be distributing books and prizes in early December. The volunteers will coordinate with the teachers to find a day and time that works well for that particular grade. It is likely if you have more than one student at Farragut, the book carts will visit your children's grades on different dates.
For those new to Farragut, the PTA sponsors a Home Reading and Writing Program for all of our students. Participation is optional. Our program encourages the students to read each day and log their reading minutes. Any questions, please contact Kristine at farraguthomereading@gmail.co

Foxes Celebrate: Happy Filipino American Heritage Month!
Maligayang Buwan ng Kasaysayan ng Filipino American!
Culver City passed the proclamation for Filipino American Heritage Month on October 14, 2024. Nikki Hart, mom of two Farragut Foxes Elliott & Ivy, and PTA’s VP of Community Engagement was there to receive and celebrate the Filipino American Heritage Month Proclamation! This proclamation recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Filipino Americans to our community.
Did you know that the Los Angeles area is home to the second largest Filipino population outside of the Philippines! Visit www.CulverCityKapwa.com to connect with your Filipino neighbors.
Filipino Americans are the second-largest Asian American group in the U.S. and the third-largest ethnic group in California. October is recognized as Filipino American History Month, celebrating the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the U.S. on October 18, 1587. This date marks the landing of "Luzones Indios" from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanza in Morro Bay, California. In 2009, Congress officially designated October as Filipino American History Month. Filipinos and Filipino Americans have significantly contributed to American culture and history as educators, labor leaders, entertainers, and more. Learning about Filipino American history enriches our understanding of American history as a whole.

We are Farragut's Booster Club, run by family volunteers. YOU make it happen for our Foxes.
Our mission is to raise crucial funds to ensure our students have the best educational experience. We partner with the PTA, Farragut admin and teachers to provide essential campus aides, art and music programs, library books, technology upgrades, teacher development, and so much more!
Get involved! We're looking for program chairs and volunteers. Please email our co-presidents Sara Pirooz and Annika Morris at farragutfanclubpresident@gmail.com
We are excited to launch Farragut's 24-25 Direct Donation Drive! Here’s how you can help:

Focus Areas:
Support essential resources and programs at risk of cuts
Enhance student enrichment opportunities
Modernize campus and technology

How to Contribute: Donate today and be an active part of our community. Thank you for your time!

If you would like your student to receive a weekly backpack, sign up here: https://forms.gle/BUs8JQW4eRGmrd82A or complete the attached Form and leave it with the Farragut front office.
