Welcome to our Farragut Fox Village!
As the saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child" and at Farragut, we take that belief to heart.
We believe in providing a safe, healthy, and productive environment for everyone in our Farragut Fox Village. To find out more about who is in our village and how we support one another, please take a look below.

Independent Study (IS) is an instructional choice and may not be mandated. Short-term independent study (STIS) is available to students who will miss 1 to 15 days of school. STIS is available to students who miss school for reasons that are both “Excused” or "Unexcused" by the state of California.
To utilize the STIS program, please notify the office at least one week before planned absences and as soon as possible for unplanned absences. STIS requires teacher notification and approval. Notifying the office early allows staff time to gather the necessary information and work for your student to receive credit for the day(s) they are absent.
This option is beneficial to students, as it allows them to avoid missing additional schoolwork. It also helps the school by keeping families from receiving truancy notifications, which are mandatory through the state, and prevents the school from losing money through Average Daily Attendance (ADA) funding. And helps to avoid receiving letters about Unexcused absences.
Please note that the student's work will need to be returned on the day they return from their absence(s), and the teachers will need to check the completed work.
You may wonder how your child is placed into their classroom. We promise you; the Farragut Team takes this very seriously. We start this process with a staff meeting led by our Inclusion Team. We discuss the importance of making each class at our school balanced with a diversity of learning styles, personalities and academic strengths. Last year's teachers then meet to discuss student progress and create a class A, class B, class C, and for some, a class D for next year's teachers.
A few weeks later, the outgoing teachers meet with the incoming teachers to discuss which of them might fit best with each of these classes. Our SPED teachers and support staff also weigh in with their expertise. Over the summer, some students move, and new students enroll, and we then work with incoming teachers to keep our classes balanced. We hope you trust our process and are excited for the journey ahead. We know our Foxes are!
No matter what it is important to remember:
Have an open mind. Each placement is made with many reasons in mind, with intention, and to best support your child.
Meet the teacher with an open mind and voice your concern. Address specifics in the conversation.
Understand that in elementary school we're preparing children to be able to adapt to multiple teachers with different personalities. This is what they’ll see in middle school and beyond and it is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow important social skills.
Establish a communication plan with the teacher to ensure updates on areas of concern.
Most importantly, understand that we all have the same goal; for your child to receive a supportive education, in a safe, nurturing environment, where everyone can grow in their fullest potential.
