FREE WRITING ASSIGNMENTS
Purpose: To enhance your writing fluency, generate ideas, and develop critical thinking skills.
Procedure: At the beginning of each class session, you will engage in at least ten minutes of free writing in a dedicated composition notebook. Free writing involves writing continuously without stopping to edit or worry about grammar or spelling. Write about anything that comes to mind, including your research interests, thoughts, feelings, observations, or dreams.
Benefits:
Improved writing fluency: Regular free writing helps to loosen up your writing style and increase your ability to express yourself clearly and confidently.
Idea generation: Free writing can help you explore different topics and generate ideas for essays and other writing assignments.
Overcoming writer's block: Free writing can help to break through mental blocks and get your creative juices flowing.
Enhanced critical thinking: By exploring your thoughts and ideas on paper, you can develop a deeper understanding of complex issues.
Note: These free writing entries will not be collected, but they will be graded near the end of the semester according to the total number of entries. The overall goal is to create a safe space for you to experiment with your writing and develop your voice as a writer.
