Gospel Message

In the Bible, we find Paul's letter that he wrote to the Church in Rome (Romans). In chapter five, he writes these verses:

"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person - though perphaps for a good person one would dare even die - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconcillation."

Some Important Things to Consider:

1. God is Holy

God is the one true God, adn there is no other. By His word alone, He created everything there is. He is "Holy," which means "wholly other." His ways are not our ways - and yet He desires fellowship with mankind. (Isaiah 45:5; Romans 1)

2. You are a sinner, and sin separates us from God

All people are sinners. We are born with a sinful nature, even if we believe tht we're a good person and have done no wrong. Sin is disobedience to God's holy, perfect standard. No one in their own sinfulness can stand in his presence. (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 5:12). Sin forms the barrier that prevents you from entering into unbroken fellowship with God, who is Holy. As an unholy sinner, you can't have fellowship with God. You are headed for a Christ-less eternity that the Bible calls Hell. (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23).

3. You can't save yourself

People often think that through their efforts they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God. That isn't true. There's nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God. You can't earn God's salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5).

4. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of His people.

Jesus died for your sins, taking your punishment on Himself. God did for you in Jesus Christ what you couldn't do for yourself. (1 Peter 2:23; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

5. Turn from your sins and place your faith in Jesus.

Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith also involves repentenace and genuine sorrow for sin and a willingness to turn away from sin. (John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10).

We are justified by faith alone through Christ alone, and now have peace with God and eternal life in His kingdom.

What now?

Pray to God, admitting that you are a sinner, and expressing sorrow for your sinfulness. Ask God to forgive your sins, then turn away from them through God's own gift of repentance (turning away from sin). Place your trust in Jesus alone for your salvation. Commit yourself to live for Him. He draws near to them that draw near to Him.
