Kevin's Eagle Scout Project

My name is Kevin Medrow and I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 126 of Little Silver. A big step in the process of working towards Eagle Scout is completing an Eagle Scout project that shows leadership, the ability to serve, and creating a project that displays the same ideals that come with Scouting. 

My Eagle Scout project consists of planting 35 native NJ trees along the side of the path from 3rd Street to Fair Haven Fields. Currently, the area I will be working on is overgrown with a variety of invasive species including Knotweed, Poison Hemlock, and English Ivy.  My project will involve cutting back the area that is overgrown, digging holes and planting the trees which will help provide a canopy to foster the growth of native plants and keep the trail shady for those walking on it. 

The planting of the trees will take place Sunday, October 23rd 2022.  We will be planting 35 shade trees of various species native to NJ.  The area where we are planting these trees will be directly north of the 18 shade trees planted in May 2022.

All help is appreciated on Sunday, October 23rd when we will be planting from 9am - 4pm.   No need to bring any special tree planting skills or equipment that day, we'll take any help we can get.
