Rahel Estermann

Rahel Estermann studied Political Science and Sociology for her BA at the University of Lucerne, in her hometown. She always liked the theoretical and foundational questions of sociology, which is why she continued to study Sociology as her major field for her MA degree in Basel and Paris. She also added Media Sciences as minor – this turned out to be a fortunate combination! Rahel got absolutely occupied with the interdependences between society and rising big data applications.

In Spring 2017, she returned to Lucerne to become part of the NFP75 funded research team. As a PhD student, Rahel examines the methods and skills in the emerging field of data journalism.
