Creation Process Explanation- To create these press fit objects I went to a blog that offered suggestions on how to create them. It was a fairly simple process once I figured out how to do it but, a challenge up until I figured out how to do it. I created different shapes in Adobe Illustrator with the lines a red outline and then I created small rectangles with a black outline. I converted the file to an SVG to be able to be used on the xTool. Once I was on the xTool I changed the speed on the black lines so that they would cut out first. For the first two it cut out the black lines first and it was successful. The others were not as successful and I will need to go back to fix it. I will need to fix it because once the outer shape is cut out the smaller rectangles will not line up.
How can your press-fit objects be used in education? My press-fit shapes can be used for students to create prototypes of inventions they are trying to create. Students can also use these to identify shapes and learn how to take different types of measurements.
I have never created an education portfolio but I think that the advantage of it would be for students to showcase how they are learning the material. Along with the students showcasing that they know the material by creating the project they would also be given the opportunity to explain how they learned how to do the project instead of just doing the project. I think it would also be helpful to create my own educational portfolio because it would show how far I have progressed during this learning journey within the Fab Learning Academy.
When I execute a learning activity I evaluate the success of the learning activity by the final product that is shown but after thoughtful consideration I have come to realize that the success of the activity can be evaluated throughout the entire process. By evaluating different steps of the learning activity I find that it gives the students more of an opportunity to be successful. By breaking them up into different steps I also have the opportunity to see where students might be struggling and help students become more successful.
When I am making modifications or improvements I make notes in my notebook. For example while creating these press-fit shapes I learned that I needed to cut out the black outlines before I cut out the entire shape because it would create an issue with alignment and it would not line up correctly.
