THE HOLY PLACE

1. The Showbread Table (also Bread of the Presence or "face-bread")

Exodus 25:30 And you shall set the bread of the Presence upon the table before Me always. 

2 Corinthians 4:6 Because the God who said, Out of darkness light shall shine, is the One who shines in our hearts to illuminate the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit. 

2. The Lampstand

Exodus 25:31 And you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand with its base and its shaft shall be made of beaten work; its cups, its calyxes, and its blossom buds shall be of one piece with it. 

John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the lights of men.

John 8:12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 

3. The Golden Incense Altar 

Exodus 30:1, 3a  And you shall make an altar on which to burn incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. 3a And you shall overlay it with pure gold. 

3. • Signifies us with Christ praying and interceding (cf. Psa 141:2)

Hebrews 7:25 Hence also He is able to save to the uttermost those who come forward to God through Him, since He lives always to intercede for them. 

1 Timothy 2:1, 3-4 I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men; 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of our Savior God, 4 Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. 

THE HOLY OF HOLIES

1. Ark of the Testimony (also Ark of the Covenant)

Exodus 25:16 And you shall put into the Ark the Testimony which I will give you. (cf. Exo. 34:28-29; 38:21)

Hebrews 9:4 Having a golden altar and the Ark of the Covenant covered everywhere with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna and Aaron's rod that budded and the tablets of the covenant.

2. The Ark of the Testimony Typifying Christ

Colossians 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

John 1:1, 18 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. 

3. The Propitiatory Cover Signifying Christ, the Place where God Speaks with Man

   • Above the expiation cover (also atonement cover or mercy seat)

Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the expiation cover, from between the two cherubim which are upon the Ark of the Testimony, of everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel. (cf. Lev. 16:14-15)

• Propitiation place (also a place of atonement or mercy seat)

Romans 3:24-25 Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus 25 Whom God set forth as a propitiation place through faith in His blood, for the demonstrating of His righteousness, in that in His forbearance God passed over the sins that had previously occurred. 

• The throne of grace

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come forward with boldness to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace for timely help.
