El Paso Leadership Academy is a public charter school governed by the State of Texas and the Texas Education Agency. Similar to all other public schools, it is required to meet accountability standards including annual assessments like the S.T.A.A.R. test.
Many scholars have placed in the annual citywide youth poetry contest sponsored by El Paso Public Library. Submissions and awardees are in both English and Spanish.
Since starting to compete in 2019, EPLA robotics has placed in the Top 3 for Mechanical Design. Participants in the program range from students with various academic proficiency and skills.
EPLA formed a team of 10 students that competed against schools across Texas as part of the inaugural 4TELLEX League Tournament. After 24 gaming sessions, the team celebrated a first-place finish.
