Salvatore (Sam) PacellA

b. 31 December 1899, Sulmona, Italy, the son of Francesco and Filomena Pacella.

Formerly a member of the local police force in Sulmona, family memory indicated that he was dissatisfied with the role, and abandoned his post, stowing away on a freighter which took him and several friends to Cuba. He then made his way into the USA, later giving 1924 as the year of his arrival. Transit records indicate that he arrived in the USA via Laredo, Tx, on 13 September 1923, under a $500 transit bond, asserting that he was a farm labourer seeking to transit to Canada via Niagara Falls, NY.

1930 - was a labourer on the local railways in Beaver Falls, the year that he became active in church work.

1933 - ordained in the Christian Church of North America as pastor of Christian Assembly, Midland, where he would pastor from 1933-1970.

1955 - returned to Sulmona with his son Anthony, during which Anthony met Filomena Pettina - who Anthony would later marry.

1967- retired from Crucible Steel Co., Midland.

m. Maria nee Coratto (also born in Italy, c. 1912). Six children - Anthony (b. 31 August, 1934-d. 6 July 2016, res. Midland; m. Philomena nee Pettina of Sulmona, L'Aquila; also worked his whole professional life at Crucible Steel), Philomena (b.c. 1937; m. Dean), Priscilla (3 Jan 1938-29 Oct 2019, m. David Clark, Wellsville, OH), Deborah (b.c. 1940, m. Chester McFadden, Jacksonville, FL), Astera Julie (b. c. 1946; m. Benson, Midland, PA); Salvatore (Sam Jr) (Beaver Falls, PA). Maria was connected to the other core families of the Midland church, including the Corattos, Nolas, etc.

1942 - living at 337 Beaver Ave, Beaver, PA, working at the Crucible Steel Co. They later moved to 609 Beaver Ave.

31 March 1993 - died in the Medical Centre, Beaver, PA.

He was buried in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.
