Our class will focus on American Government and contemporary events. This course is going to focus on thinking critically through historical and current events. The goal is to allow students to grow into an active and informed citizen through inquiry.
The units we will focus on are:
Unit 1: Social Studies Skills
Unit 2: Types of Governments
Unit 3: Our Government
Unit 4: Citizens and the Government
Unit 5: Human Rights and Global Issues
Unit 6: Taking Informed Action
Unit 7: Types of Economies and Financial Literacy
Unit 8: Politics, Elections, and the Media Age
Students will need the following ALL YEAR LONG:
Composition Notebook for Social Studies ONLY (college ruled preferred)
Two Pocket Folder (for S.S. ONLY)
Glue/Tape for papers in our notebooks
Scissors
Highlighters (two colors)
Pencils to last the whole year
Blue/Black Pens
School issued computer
