What is Lunch Bunch?
From 2017-2020, I led a team of public librarians at Calvert Library (a multi-branch library system serving D.C. suburbs in Maryland), to partner with local elementary schools and bring lunchtime book clubs into schools. Calvert Library engages in extensive community partnerships that align with the library’s mission to instill life-long learning. Called Lunch Bunch, this program encouraged a reading culture in fifth grade students. Originally started as a staff member's LATI* project as a way to connect with local elementary schools, the program slowly expanded to include most of the public schools in the county. I took over as team leader in 2017.
