Meet Lynne...
The granddaughter of a bookbinder and a librarian, I like to joke that ink runs through my veins, not blood. I received a BA in history from Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina, a Library Associate Training Institute Certification from the Maryland State Library Agency, a MLIS from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, and a 200-hour Yoga Instructor & Social Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification from Breathe for Change, through William Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri.
Currently a freelance Eco-Art-tivism Teacher, Yoga Instructor, Book Reviewer, and Graphic Designer in the greater D.C. area, I spent most of my career in the library world. At one time or another I have also called New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Maryland, Maine, and South Korea home. I have enjoyed getting to know these various communities in roles ranging from Museum Tour Guide, Arts Education Advisor, Children's Librarian, Reference Librarian, Law Librarian, and Head Librarian.
I consider being a Literary Detective my library superpower. I often engage in what my patrons call “mind reading” to solve their books mysteries. Can't remember the title of that orange book with the squirrel on the cover you read last year? I can help! I only use my power for good and love engaging in "literary matchmaking."
My hobbies include reading, yoga, ukulele, hot tea, Jane Austen fandoms, knitting, art of all kinds, container gardening, and Tetris. My favorite book is Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman.
Passionate about early literacy, readers' advisory, information literacy, intellectual freedom, and sharing empowerment through art, this website shares examples of some of my online storytimes, book reviews, and craft workshops. Please reach out with questions or inquiries.
