A Car Free Earth Day 2026 event was held on Saturday April 25, 2026.
It was very wet due to much rain so it didn't last long, but new people learned about it and much trash was hauled out.
I neglected to take a photo of the pile.
It was determined that Amtrak is assisting in the clean up by sweeping out the area by the gate.
Some painting was considered but that involves more lead time than we have.
There isn't much obvious trash left and the vegetation does tend to hide it.
As far as painting is concerned, it may require permits though its questionable that DOT knows that it owns some of these concrete jersey barriers and guardrails that could be painted. Many are already graffitied. That said, the paint and painting supplies exist. Just need ideas.
This area (north side of the gate) had to have been swept out as it was not this clean before.

Manhole cover that does not seem to have a purpose. The concrete structure behind it is an access to the Freedom Tunnel.
