Mission Statement:
The mission of the Excelsior Middle School library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The school library media specialist (SLMS) empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

What do you need to know about Mrs. Nelson?
I think reading is meant to be fun, but it is also an invaluable skill.
I believe that no kid truly dislikes reading, but I think a lot of kids dislike the books that we ask them to read.
I believe that students should have the freedom to read the books that interest them without grown-ups getting in the way.
I believe that the library is a place for students to read, learn, explore, relax, and have fun.

I really like it when students come to the library to read or hang out. Please clean up after yourself.
