Prevent Duty

Prevent Duty training in the UK is aimed at equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond to signs of radicalization and extremism. Participants learn about the Prevent strategy's objectives, legal responsibilities under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, and how to implement Prevent-related policies in their respective roles and organisations. Our training builds on the statutory prevent training and we suggest this is completed before completing our prevent training.

Key aspects of the training include:

1. Understanding Radicalisation: Professionals gain insights into the process of radicalisation and the factors that may contribute to individuals becoming vulnerable to extremist ideologies.

2. Recognising Signs and Indicators: Training covers the signs and indicators that may suggest someone is at risk of radicalisation. This includes behavioural changes, extremist rhetoric, and engagement with extremist groups or literature.

3. Legal Framework and Reporting Obligations: Participants learn about their legal duties under the Prevent duty, including their responsibilities to report concerns and refer individuals at risk to appropriate channels.

4. Implementing Prevent Strategies: The training provides guidance on how to implement Prevent-related policies and procedures within their organisations. This includes conducting risk assessments, developing action plans, and collaborating with other agencies and partners.

5.Engaging with Communities: Emphasis is placed on building trust and working collaboratively with communities to promote understanding of Prevent objectives and to address concerns in a sensitive and supportive manner.

6. Case Studies and Practical Scenarios: Practical exercises, case studies, and scenarios are often used to illustrate real-life situations and enhance understanding of how to apply Prevent principles effectively.
