To visualize different data types, cartograms can be created. Cartograms are maps where the geometry is distorted in order to convey information about certain attributes. There are numerous types of cartograms, e.g. Dorling cartograms, discontiguous cartograms and Demers cartograms.
In this lab, an area cartogram displaying Twitter-activity within a 2-hour span was created, and classified using head/tail break classification. As you can see highly active countries, with the US in the absolute top, has been emphasized, while countries with low acitivity have been reduced area-wise.
