I am currently a PhD student at the CUNY Graduate Center. Before CUNY, in 2023 I completed my Master's at Western Washington University under Jeffrey Meier.
CUNY is strange, so I have two e-mails. Both are escott(at)_______:
For teaching-related inquiries, fill the blank with "ccny.cuny.edu".
For all other inquiries, fill the blank with "gradcenter.cuny.edu".
I was born outside Blacksburg in Virginia, and raised in Gig Harbor, WA. At age 10, my family and I moved to a village named Healing, in England, where we lived until I was 15. This is why I sometimes spell certain words correctly by accident, then in the editing stage I always have to find and replace "neighbourhood" with "neighborhood."
Aside from math, I like reading (my favourite book is Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, highly recommended), playing videogames (I recommend Adam Robinson-Yu's A Short Hike) and cooking (try out Doro Wat, an Ethiopian & Eritrean dish).
My motto, so much as I have one, is this quote from my Dad:
"Life is not about how much you win, it's about how much you celebrate."
