In order to share our intangible heritage, we have worked on a flamenco workshop. We taught our partners both in Portugal and in Greece how to dance "Sevillanas".
On the other hand, a local folk singing group called Cantares de Évora performed for us at the school. These were the songs that farmers sang a cappella while they were working. Today, they are an important way to preserve local culture and history.
Our Greek partners gave us a masterclass on how to dance Sirtaki.
We didn't go amiss at all. Watch the videos and see for yourself!
Cantares de Évora
Flamenco
The songs of Évora is a group of older people who sing to the people of Évora on special ocasions , and there is a monument in their honor.
In this flamenco workshop, we were practising "sevillanas" with our Portuguese partners, we got in pairs and we all danced together. It was a fun activity for everyone.
In addition, two of our Portuguese classmates who are learning flamenco showed us a little of what they had learned in their academy and danced for us. They were great!
Sirtaki
Sevillanas
In this workshop, we were dancing Sirtaki, a traditional dance from Crete. This was fun because we needed to be in a circle and move our feet very fast.
It's important to know that we had amazing teachers!
We taught our Greek partners how to dance sevillanas. It was great fun for everyone.
We also danced in the Venetian port (Heraklion) and we had a great time recording it.
