A heartfelt thanks to Ateneo de Naga University, especially AdNU College of Education, for granting me the opportunity to represent the institution. The guidance and trust of our faculty was instrumental in my growth throughout this experience.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University for partnering with our universities, and for accepting and accommodating us like their own students. A special thank you to the Demonstration School of Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University for trusting us to teach their students and for making us feel so welcome. To the president of KRU , Dr. Photjanee Sukchaona, thank you for your leadership and for making this program possible. To the Vice President, Dr. Narongdech Rattananonsathien, thank you for your guidance, support, and for your invaluable contributions to this program. My deepest appreciation goes to Director Peter and the Deputy Directors of DSKRU, Ms. Geng and Mr. Golf for trusting us and looking after us throughout our time there. Your kindness and generosity made this experience truly unforgettable.
To my students at DSKRU—Mathayom 5/1, 5/2, 4/1, 4/2, and Mathayom 1/1-1/3—thank you for being my first-ever students in my entire teaching career. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Teaching you was the most fulfilling moment of this journey. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn made each lesson unforgettable. Watching you grow and develop over the course of this program was an incredibly rewarding experience. I will always cherish the memories of our time together and am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of your learning journey.
To my dad, thank you for your unyielding support—financially and in countless other ways—that made it possible for me to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Your hard work and sacrifices mean the world to me. A heartfelt thanks to Tito Jym and Tita Bung for welcoming me in their home, picking me up from Suvarnabhumi Airport, looking after me, and teaching me everything I needed to know about life in Thailand. To my Lola Haney and Tita Jean, the greatest mother figures in my life, your constant love and prayers were my anchor, which kept me safe and grounded while I was far from home. Lastly, to the love of my life, my little brother, my boboy, MJ—thank you for taking such good care of Ginger while I was away. You are my greatest comfort and joy, and the thought of returning to you kept my heart warm throughout this journey.
To my two mothers at KRU, Teacher Gray and Teacher Moffat, words cannot express how grateful I am that I have gotten to know such genuine and kind-hearted souls. Your motherly care for the seven of us made our journey warm and unforgettable. You reminded us that even in a foreign land, we could find a family. Your invaluable support, guidance, and encouragement helped us overcome challenges and cherish every moment of our experience. Thank you for being our guiding light, and for treating us like your own. For a while, you made me experience again what it feels like to have a mom who would pick me up from school and have meals with me.
To P’Moon, my mother at DSKRU, thank you for being our rock throughout our teaching journey. Your encouragement, especially during moments when I felt unsure, gave me the confidence to push beyond my comfort zone. You made sure that Lester and I had everything we needed for our teaching demos. I truly would not have made it through this experience without you—your guidance, care, and support were invaluable to me. To Aomsin, thank you for your kindness and warmth. Your presence was a great comfort to us, and we are truly grateful for the care and support you showed throughout our time at DSKRU. You always knew how to brighten our days with your positivity and thoughtfulness. We deeply appreciate everything you did for us, and your kindness will always hold a special place in our hearts.
To our amazing buddies— Aom, Angun, Dommii, Malee, View, Frost, Newwii, Grace, Kratae, Looknam, Non, Bum, Pin, Bam, and April— we literally couldn’t have survived this journey without each of you. Thank you for your effort, time, and patience in ensuring we had everything we needed and for treating us like family. Your company was the greatest gift you gave us. Just know that Lisbeth, Jayne, Zy, Lester, Thalla, Audiva, and I deeply appreciate all the sacrifices you made for us—from fetching us at the airport to sending us off, taking us to and picking us up from places on your motorcycles, keeping us company at the dorm, showing us incredible attractions during city tours, guiding us throughout the program, organizing events, sharing stories and secrets, to keeping us sane and safe. Thank you so much for everything! Our friendship truly is the best relationship I’ve gained on this journey.
To Maitree, Nuknik, Max, Boss, and Pat—thank you for making our last week at Kanchanaburi so memorable. I truly appreciate the effort you made to visit us at the dorm just to spend time with us and share meals together. Our friendship, though unexpected, has become something truly special. Even though it was just Lisbeth and me left at the dorm, we never felt lonely because you all filled the space with your presence and warmth. A special thanks also goes to the education students of the Faculty of Education at KRU, who spent time with us during our final week and made it even more memorable.
To Audiva and Thallah, my two Indonesian girlies, thank you for adding to the list of my Indonesian friends. Just last year, I was a buddy to two Indonesian exchange students at our university, and now, as a participant in this program, I have the privilege of being companions with both of you. Thank you for all the laughter, fun, and unforgettable memories we created together. Your presence truly made this journey even more special, and I’m so grateful for the bond we’ve built. From the late-night conversations to the adventures we shared, I’ll always cherish the time we spent together. Mari kita bertemu lagi di kehidupan ini. Mahal ko kayo, lamoyan teh!
To Lisbeth, thank you for being my constant support from the very beginning of our preparation for this program until the very end. Your patience and positivity helped me stay grounded, and I’m incredibly grateful for the memories we made together. This experience wouldn’t be the same without you by my side.
To my kabayans, Zy and Jayne, one of the things I am most grateful for from this journey is gaining two new sisters who were not only genuine but always had my back. You both became my main source of joy and comfort, especially during my lowest points. I can’t thank you enough for making this experience something I’ll cherish and recount for years to come. The bond we formed is one of the greatest gifts this journey gave me, and I’ll forever be grateful for your presence and support. 2 Marians and a Mario 4 lyf! To Lester, thank you for being an amazing roommate, and for giving me new experiences and life lessons. Being with you throughout my DSKRU journey, alongside P’moon as our resource teacher, made everything easier. Your presence and support made all the difference. Thank you for the gift of friendship. You guys will always be our 3 matampuhing Marians.
Lastly, I dedicate this success to God, whose grace and blessings continue to light my path and guide me through life’s challenges and triumphs.
