Day 3 - Morning

Scraping, and measuring, and routing, and filing, and measuring, and filing, and sanding...

Day #3 at ~7:40 a.m.

[Left] Neck pieces—fingerboard with installed fret dot and the neck with ebony top plate

[Right] Glued up soundbox within in gobar deck after a restful night of curing

Let's get started...

... with a demo of scrapers, specifically preparing their surfaces

After flattening the body, the edge is sharpened by truing against a 90° block.

The edges are then "burred" to create the desired scrapping surface edge.

Another demo... fingerboard contouring using the "box" to ensure the sanding beams stay aligned

Time to remove the overhang of the top and bottom with the router and a flush cut bit.

WATCH FOR CHIPOUT!!!!

Nibble directly into the body and then work "High to low"

Demo of routing out the neck pocket using the NCME-designed neck pocket routing system

The first of two inserts is shown installed within the fixture

The two inserts used for neck pocketing

(Bottom sides shown)

Mounted, chalked up, and ready to begin the 16"R contour sanding the fingerboard

40 grit PSA and it still took a good while to achieve the desired 16" radius

Another Demo: Locating the fingerboard and preparing for neck width routing (see below)

Positioning the 14th fret on the edge of the guitar to mark the back end of the neck

This is an important step to be able to correctly locate the neck pocket routing fixture

Where did the time go... lunch time!
