Beware is a horror game developed by Team Awesome, one of the teams in the Game Studio II class as part of Champlain Abroad's Montreal program. The game follows a savage bear named Ursula, roaming a national park, and a conspiracy theorist who wants to prove Ursula's existence via photograph. The player must utilize sound and surroundings to lure the bear and stay alive. Hide in the bushes, mind their footsteps, and throw rocks to distract Ursula, all to get that perfect picture. Depending on how much of Ursula is in the photo, the player earns a higher score once they've escaped with their life. If Ursula catches the player, then the game is over!
Ethan handled the construction of Beware's web page, hosted on itch.io. The text describes the game's story, controls, gameplay, success conditions, and installation instructions. Therefore, it gives anyone browsing a good first impression of what the game is about.
Ethan also recorded and edited the game's cinematic trailer, utilizing tools like OBS Studio and DaVinci Resolve. The video gave players a further understanding of the game's visuals, gameplay, and sound within motion.
Ethan also proved to be a team player. He was tasked with building feedback surveys within testing. In addition, he grew to work with his team not just in the workspace, but through bonding outside of development hours.
