In my final interview before accepting a job with the WPIAL, I was asked what I would do with the league website. I remember saying something about completely overhauling it, which is what I was tasked to do when I started in September 2021. While under contract with the previous website host, I was able to restructure the website to make it more user-friendly, adding pages for specific sports, awards and initiatives, and championship tournaments, and contributed regular content to it with press releases, recaps, and history.

After an extensive process two years into my term, I helped facilitate a deal with SIDEARM Sports to become the new website provider of the WPIAL. I worked with their team on the design of the site, providing ideas based on other websites our office liked and offering feedback after each draft, and then single-handily transferred all data and information over to the new host. The new WPIAL website was an instant success, reaching 3.5 million views in its first year with over 469,000 total users, and had an average engagement time of 2 minutes and 23 seconds. Prior to my departure, that number reached 7.1 million views over two years, and the additional visibility was beneficial in telling our stories and generating revenue in the form of sponsorship ad placements.

In the fall of 2024, we struck a sponsorship deal with Snap! Mobile that included the creation of a new app. The app was launched prior to the WPIAL Football Championships and allowed us to enhance digital engagement and connectivity with fans. It provided information on postseason and championship games, and easy access to purchase tickets and watch or listen to games online. I had additional big picture ideas for the app as it continued to find its footing within the strategic communications plan, but my departure from the WPIAL didn’t allow those to come to fruition.
