Goals and Objective

As a response to unresponsive and ineffective meetings, the founders have sprouted the idea of building this audience-engaging platform. Born as a hobby project, it has quickly developed into a full-grown online educational tool in 10 years’ time. Mentimeter is an online polling tool which by adding interactive elements to a lecture, presentation, or public talk. Different features on Mentimeter will allow presenters to offer a more engaging and dynamic presentation.


The main objective of Mentimeter is as a catalyst of the meeting, which helps advance the meeting and make desired decisions during meetings with interactive functions. The implementation of Mentimeter in a workplace or among a group of people could promote easier collaboration. Mentimeter aimed to cater to participants from small internal business meetings to live talks in front of a large population of audiences.

So... How does Mentimeter work?


The format of Mentimeter resembles Microsoft Powerpoint. As mentioned in the previous section, Mentimeter is an online polling system which offers interactive question types in your presentation. Various question types available in Mentimeter includes the following:

  • Multiple Choice

  • Ranking

  • Scales

  • Word Clouds

  • Open-ended questions

These interactive elements are embedded as the types of templated slides. Based on different scenarios (Business & Meetings or Education), there are also numerous templates available for users to choose from immediately.



Students were required to bring their own device (BYOD) to participate in Mentimeter activities. The Mentimeter website can be assessed through a website browser or on your mobile devices. Mentimeter participants will enter a code displayed on the screen shared by the presenter, to participate in the Mentimeter presentation. They will read the discussion prompt displayed on their device and answer to them accordingly.

Is Mentimeter free?


Mentimeter is free to use - anyone can start a presentation for free but limitation applies. For instance, users can create up to 2 slides maximum per free presentation.
