ART BUDDIES
Project 1: My classmates and I worked with our table groups to create four large collaborative doodle murals. The prompts for the students focused on color associations and the Big Idea theme of play. After each prompt, our student leaders would rotate the paper so the students could draw the next prompt in a new area, making the whole piece a blend of each Art Buddy's artwork.
Project 2: Our Art Buddies were taught how to play the game Memory, before my class helped them create their own designs, based on the theme of play, on pairs of wooden tiles. Each Art Buddy created five pairs of designs, which makes up half a full game. After our Buddies finished their designs, they were able to play the game with one of their groupmates!
Project 3: Our Art Buddies used found objects and craft supplies to create a playground item, exploring our Big Idea of play in a three-dimensional way. (This project required some extra helping hands and a lot of hot glue!) Once each student finished their item, the items were placed on a cardboard base with their groupmates' items, to create a full playground. In a later session, the students were able to spend some time decorating the bases of their playground, to create a full scene!
Project 4: In this project, each Art Buddy received one piece of a large puzzle. On this piece, they drew a space in which they like to play. Once all the Buddies finished their pieces, we helped them hang them together on the wall, to create the full, vibrant puzzle!
