Esther Carpenter is a junior art education student at Grand Valley State University. She has a lifelong passion for art, and seeks to explore different media as channels for expression, communication, and connection. Her art centers on the beauty inherent in life and the amplification of that beauty through making it into art. She often adds touches of fantasy to her works, translating reality into what could be rather than what is.
Esther discovered a love for teaching at a young age, volunteering to work with children at her church and giving interested friends and students art tutorials. During her years in college, she worked with students at Grand Rapids Community College as a math tutor, continued volunteering with her kids classes, and tutored elementary and middle school students in English while studying abroad in Spain.
She believes that learning begets more learning, and strives toward breaking down barriers to education for all students. Her goal is to create a learning environment that is safe, welcoming, and encourages students to be inquisitive about the world.
