My name is Esther Carpenter, and I am an art education student from West Michigan. I discovered a passion for working with students when I was a young teen volunteering at my church, a passion which only grew as I entered into college and started working as a tutor. I am of the firm belief that learning can be fun and accessible to all students, and there is no space that is truer than in the arts.
My approach to art is very experimental in medium. I push myself to try a wide range and mix of materials, both 3D and 2D, and my love for the arts extends to music, dance, theater, and creative writing. I'm drawn to the beauty of figures and nature, and to the stories that can be expressed through image.Â
My goal in the classroom is to create a safe haven for students, where they can find community and explore self-expression while learning critical thinking and valuable art-making competencies. Whether they go on to become artists themselves, or choose a different degree path, art plays a great role in developing skills that will serve them in any walk of life.
