3. Principal’s Report - Pam McCann

• Not Present for report. Laura Fox said no staff updates but thanks for stock the workroom.

• Diana

  • outdoor eating going well but money coming from the district to setup new things so won’t need PTA money to cover.

4. Treasurer’s Update - Terra Harrison

• • Memberships:

    • we are still taking memberships. A little under goal for members. Best way is through memberhub website. Would be good to send that out again. Part of $10 goes to National PTA and a bit goes to our PTA.

  • Zoom:

    • purchased zoom to have PTA meetings so that was a line item. We do have money that has come in from last year.

  • Emphasized Caution:

    • Because the budget is low we had to be very conscientious over the summer as to where to allot money..

5. PTA Committee Updates

• a. Fall Fund Drive -Melissa Kushnir (Diana Almanza)

  • Terra: 

    • Fall Fund Drive had a steady push initially but has trickled off so we need to have another push. 

    • If we don’t make $15,000 we’ll have to go to another fundraiser.

    • We should try to push FFD to relatives or others to bring in more money. Adrienne encouraged reaching out to businesses.

    • Maybe rewards and incentives for kids?

  • Emily Dorn:

    • maybe the marquee would help. We are just under $2000 right now.

  • Diana:

    • some ideas have been a dance party but that is not an option. 

      • Encouraged us to think of ideas…. Maybe costumes, etc. 

      • Think through covid restrictions. 

      • Could have a thermometer on sandwich sign to show how much we’ve raised.

6. Student Directory - Arin Isenstein (Diana Almanza)

• Have 227 responses out of 357 students. Good start! Would love 100% but will call it good at 85%. It’s different this year that it will be digital. No paper copy. Just pdf. Emily suggested we send to room parents to get full participation.

7. Teacher Appreciation - Brynn Hall 

• will meet with McCann and Novotny for dates throughout the year to hold events. Goal is to treat teachers/staff once a month. 

• McCann/Novotny would like to change Teacher Appreciation Week in April/May away from Ramadan so all teachers can enjoy the goodies. 

• Thanks to parents for signing up and continue to encourage others to donate items as well.

8. School Merchandise - Megan Johnson

• Diana said she is planning on opening an entire merchandise store. 

• Still have previous years’ t-shirts if folks want to buy those. We would like to sell those if possible.

• Megan said probably $5 for t-shirts and magnets (old). 

• Looking at new companies for this year’s shirts and apparel, water bottles and drawstring bags. 

• With store front you can order, pay with credit and items will be sent. 

• More to come once artwork is decided upon.

10. New Business - Marybeth 

• Very interested in building a community where parents can talk about raising kids in this technology based world. 

• Helping to build them up to use tech how it should be but keep safe from cyber harm, tech addictions,etc. 

• Wants for kids to be able to have recognition awareness. 

• She has read and researched about this topic to help a culture be proactive and prepared as opposed to feeling it’s too late. Having digital trust with children. They feel comfortable and confident coming to parents if they see harmful things via tech. Strategies, support and navigate a purposeful and empowered tech with their children.

• Try to see if there would be interest. She would like help putting the word out. Said district doesn’t sound like there is interest. 

• middle school has had a few gatherings around this issue.

• Marybeth would like to initially meet to see how parents would like to move forward… one meeting? Several? Speakers? Forums?

 11. Closing Thoughts/Comments

• Meredith Canterbury – asked about yearbook.

  • She did it at Rashkiss with Strawbridge. Wanted to know if we could move to another company that could include artwork and be less expensive.

  • Diana will ask McCann.
